July is Rotary Community Service Month Did you know? Each year millions of people do millions of hours of community service valued at billions of dollars. In our Rotary Club of Wenatchee we contribute thousands of hours in service to our local community. When we support things such as our auction we are supporting our community. Last year at our auction we raised $95,000 to support our community. When you solicited items, when you bought a ticket, when you asked someone to attend, when you purchased items at the auction, YOU were performing service to your community. You will soon have that opportunity again to do your part with our “Building Communities” auction 2017. Start by saving the date of January 30th, 2017 for our auction and plan to attend. NEW PRICING FOR LUNCH AT THE RED LION As of July 1st the Red Lion is lowering the price of our lunches. Lunch fees will be $13 at the Red Lion. ey, however, will only offer a full meal option. Lunch will continue to consist of soup, salad, entree and dessert all for just $13. A very reasonable price for our lunch and use of the room. ank you Red Lion for all you do to to give us a quality space for our meetings.

The Week in Review – ~

When you give to RotaryYou give to the World.

Well, Jim is batting 50% in attendance as he had Don My-ers audition for the job today. Don made a creditable effort to act presidential and say what he thought Jim would say. He repeated Jim’s mantra from last week to just “Ask”. Sug-gesting that all we need to do is to just ask people to join Rotary. You are doing them a favor by asking and giving them the opportunity to be a part of this great organization. Few people will just come out and say they want to join they want to be asked. The same holds true when working on our auction. If you don’t ask, people will not just volunteer to give us money or items. So just ASK!Our program this week featured Coach Dennis Tronson of the WHS Boys Soccer Team. Dennis took us through the season and told us about all of their ups and downs. They finished the season 3rd in the league and had to advance to State through a process known as loser out. They finished the season by winning 10 in a row 5 of them by shut outs.Their motto this year was “Strength & Glory” Player and co-captain of the team Matt Springer said that there is no feeling like being the Champs. It usually only comes once in a lifetime.

Carol Adamson made here first appearance to our club as the new Assistant District Governor of Area 9. She is here to help us by giving support to our programs and to help maintain communication between our club and district leadership. She is available to help answer questions and act as a counselor to assist our club.

CHAPLAIN’S CORNERIt was with deep sadness that we learned of Melissa Hernandez’s passing on Friday morning July 15th. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and all her many friends who cherished her. She was a bright light in Rotary, always positive and willing to help

with whatever needed to be done. We have lost a dear, dear friend. She will be missed by all.

The auction committee is having a meeting on Tuesday, July 19, 5:30pm at the Grizzly Lounge in the Red Lion Hotel. This is the first step to raising some money to help build and strengthen our community. If you are willing to work on any of the auction committees we would welcome your attendance at this orgnaizational meeting.

Please show your support. Any questions can be directed to Co-chairs Jill Leonard [email protected] 509-670-5742
