Who We Are: Colleges Against Cancer Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) is a nationwide collaboration
of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by working to implement the programs and mission of the American Cancer Society. With hundreds of chapters
nationwide, CAC is showing the world that young people care and want to make a difference.

Who is the American Cancer Society?

nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

The Night We've Been Waiting For
• Doors open at 4pm, event starts at 6pm• Doors close at midnight: All unregistered
people must leave at midnight• Registered participants get a wristband
o If any team member is coming after midnight, e-mail us at [email protected]
• Computers available for last minute registration at the dooro Registration the day of Relay will be $20 instead of $10 –
so, register early!
General Rules for the Night
• No food on track• Clean-up your site (we
want to come back next year)
• No rowdiness, jumping over railings etc.
• If you are clearly under the influence and/or belligerent, you will leave
• "Leave Your Balls at the Door" policy
Ceremonies
• Opening Ceremony: 6pmo Speaker: Dr. Tracy Battaglia
• Luminaria Ceremony: 10pmo Speaker: Brittany Szabo
• Fight Back Ceremony: 2am
• Closing Ceremony: 5:45am
Luminaria Bags• Each bag is dedicated to
someone special who either has cancer, is in remission from cancer, or has passed from cancer.
• The bags line the track during the event and are illuminated during the Luminaria Ceremony
• Teams can sell them as a fundraiser – $$ will count towards your fundraising totals
• $5.00 in person – $10.00 online
Luminaria Ceremony Slideshow• Submit a photo of who you are Relaying
for, along with your name, the person's name, and if you want, a caption.o Send to Abra: [email protected]
Survivorship• We celebrate and honor
survivors and their struggle with cancer.
• The opening lap is the Survivor Lap. o The survivors kick off Relay by
taking a lap around the track while the rest of us cheer them on!
• After the Survivor Lap, there is a Survivor Reception.o The survivors enjoy a nice
dinner and mingle with other survivors.
Virtual Survivor• There are some people
who can't make it to Relay For Life but we still want to honor them!
• You can walk in their place as a "virtual survivor!"
• Survivors will get a picture of you walking and an event t-shirt sent to their house!
How to become a Virtual Survivor
1. Have the survivor sign up online at www.RelayBU.org 2. Fill out a virtual survivor form 3. Make a sign that you can wear to honor your survivor

Food at Relay
• No food is allowed on the track! o You can eat food in any other location
in the building. • Bring your own food to Relay!
o There will be some food delivered, but not enough to feed all of the participants.
• Food being delivered includes: o Pizza from Scoozio Raising Cane'so And more!
Fundraising• Fundraising is what makes a lasting
difference in the fight against cancer! • Parts of Relay:
o 1/4 signing upo 1/4 coming to Relayo 1/2 FUNDRAISING!
• Utilize the Fundraising Tools on the webpage
• Send e-mails & use facebook to raise $$• Set a goal! If you reach it, make it higher!• Raise $100 and get a FREE T-Shirt!!• Raffle tickets at Relay – win prizes!

On-Site Fundraisers
Here are some ideas for on-site fundraisers: • Jail & Bail• Pimp Chimp• Manicures & Massages• Chance drawings• Decorate photo frames
Teams can choose from these or create their own on-site fundraisers!
