MERRY CHRISTMAS
Dear Parishioners,
It is Christmas, “Unto us the Child is born,” be strong and keep the faith. Most of us, as we come closer to these festivities, are anxious, afraid, filled with worry about this and that . . . but the most consoling and encouraging message of Christmas is the angelic message,
“ Do not be afraid.”
This phrase is repeated often as God speaks to His people. The Lord said it to Abraham before making a covenant with him: “Don’t be afraid.” Angel Gabriel said it to Daniel when he was frightened by a terrifying vision: “Don’t be afraid.” The angel said it to Zechariah, future father of John the Baptist. Angel Gabriel said it to Mary, who was troubled at the news she received. An angel said it to shepherds startled by the Christmas glory that shone round them. Jesus repeatedly said it to his disciples, culminating in his resurrected appearance when he came to his grieving, fearful friends and spoke the words, “Don’t be afraid.” Mary Magdalene heard this same command when she was in the garden searching for Jesus in the empty tomb. So, on this Christmas Day, perhaps this command is the very one God would give to us today:
“Don’t be afraid.”
All of us have fears: fears for the safety of our families, fears of our own health and life, fears about possible accidents, illnesses, violent home intrusion, fears about our jobs. We are all afraid to lose what we do have. We are still afraid that what we do have, may not be enough in the end. On a global level, are afraid of terrorist attacks, nuclear warfare, religious persecution, global warming and so many other natural disasters. Christmas reminds us that if we honor God with reverential fear prompted by love, we don’t have to fear anything else in the world. We don’t have to fear people & things that can only hurt us in this life. No one, can take away who we are in Christ. No one, can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus! And that is the true Christmas message. Therefore May Jesus be reborn in your hearts and lives during this Christmas and every day of the New Year. May He radiate His presence from within you to others as sharing love, unconditional forgiveness, humble service, a compassionate heart and overflowing generosity. May He bless you with health in body and soul and grant you a peaceful and blessed New Year.
Lastly, I am grateful for all the support; money, talent and time, that you have given towards the growth of our parishes, Sts. Peter and Paul and St. Joseph/Shrine of St. Katherine Drexel, this year. The various ministries, committees and individual parishioners, thank you very much.
Also for all the Christmas greetings and gifts that you have given to me and Deacon Bob, we are grateful. Remember “fear Not” for we have a Divine Savior, An Immanuel and A love-sharing God.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sunday Hospitality 2018
We hope you have enjoyed the treats after Sunday
masses. Begin in 2018 we will be offering home baked
goodies created by volunteers on the
first and third Sundays
of every month
One of our parishioners has generously offered to cover
the first Sundays. However, we will be taking sign-ups
for volunteers on the third Sundays.
Volunteers are required to get the coffee started before
Mass and will need to leave Mass a bit before the final
hymn to get their home baked goodies set up.
We encourage ministries, families, CCD classes or
individuals to do this as a service to the parish. The
parish council covers the cost of the coffee but home
baked goods are provided by the volunteers.
Please prayerfully consider providing this special
fellowship opportunity for our parish. A sign up sheet
is outside the kitchen in the Commons or you may
contact Sandra Gallaudet:

Increased Offertory Program
In the weeks ahead, you will be reading more about a new Increased Offertory Program taking place at our parish. This program is an opportunity for all of us to address the most pressing need in our parish through increased giving—the need of reducing our debt. Our hope is to increase our weekly collection by at least 20%.
Each week, this space in the bulletin will be devoted to reminders and important announcements concerning the Increased Offertory Program. Please be on the lookout for more information about this exciting opportunity.

CHURCH LIBRARY
The Saints Peter & Paul Library Ministry exists to provide and maintain resources that support the church and its teachings, and provide information, materials and services to assist in the advancement of Catholic education. The parish library’s collection, built with donations by parishioners, encourages spiritual growth, awareness of God’s presence and knowledge of the Catholic Church, its teachings and doctrines. Please feel free to borrow books from our library (located in the lounge at the entrance) any time. If you wish to donate books, please ensure that books would fit within that guideline. There is a box in the li-brary where you may place your dona-tions. We, unfortunately, do not have the resources to accept any other books. In the meantime, a box of other books that were dropped off is in the lounge and you may take any of those books for free. We cannot use them. Thank you to all who have contributed
with your donations.
Church Library
We have completed the initial work of or-ganizing the donated books in the church library and are now in need of assistance with ongoing maintenance. This does not require a lot of time and your help will be much appreciated.

It Was On A Starry Night:
It was on a starry night
When the hills were bright
Earth lay sleeping
Sleeping calm and still
Then in a cattle shed
In a manger bed
A boy was born
King of all the world.
Chorus:
And all the angels sang for Him
The bells of heaven rang for Him
For a boy was born
King of all the world.
And all the angels sang for Him
The bells of heaven rang for Him
For a boy was born
King of all the world.
Soon the shepherds came that way
Where the baby lay
And were kneeling
Kneeling by His side
And their hearts believed again
For the peace of men
For a boy was born
King of all the world.
Child in the manager
Child in the manger,
Infant of Mary
Outcast and stranger,
Lord of all
Child who inherits
All our transgressions
All our demerits on Him fall
Once the most holy
Child of salvation
Gently and lowly, lived below
Now as our glorious
Mighty Redeemer
See Him victorious
O'er each foe
Prophets foretold Him
Infant of wonder
Angels behold Him
On His throne
Worthy our Savior
Of all our praises
Happy forever
Are His own
Townes Mullinex, Soloist
All are invited to sing:
O little town of Bethlehem
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie.
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light.
The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight.

Our cookie dough sale was a success. We thank you the Ladies for their generous donations of dough, and our parishioners for getting their
cookie doughs from us. We can imagine the “yummy” sounds
they will inspire to those who taste them!
Our Mexican Community outdid themselves with such a deliciously authentic Mexican Dinner in honor of our Lady of Guadalupe.
THANK YOU SO MUCH,
Mexican Lady's, for cooking such a delicious meal for all of us!
It is always so sweet to see friends and families working like one, specially the younger generations helping and getting involved in the traditions. This is refreshing for the heart. Speaking of younger generations and their participation ... boy oh boy—Our youngest parishioners had a great time hitting the ‘piñata’ and even more fun grabbing all those candies! We want to thank every-one who helped make the ‘piñatas’ possible, especially to Glenn Reuther for ingenuous creativity to hold the ‘piñatas’ up!
