Welcome n e w members and visitors to St Pius X Parish. We hope you feel wel-come and will participate in the many activities here whether you are a regular parishioner, a sea-sonal resident or just visiting. For families with babies, two quieting rooms are available in the nave of the church, toward the back. Large windows allow mothers or fathers to continue to see and participate in Mass, as you sooth

the baby by rocking. Childcare is located in the St. Paul Room and is available to babies and young children, at the 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. Sunday Masses. For children 4 to 6 years old, Children’s Church is available at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Chil-dren’s Church allows children to hear the Word of God in a way that their hearts can understand, so that they too can grow in their faith. Please ask a greeter for help in locating these areas, as well as restrooms, water foun-tains, or other areas of interest in our church. We are so glad you have come!

Have you ever noticed how passionate some people are about their faith and won-dered what their secret was? It’s likely that they have had a personal ENCOUNTER with Jesus. An encounter, a moment that can change the direction of our life, is when we realize that our faith is much more than just fulfilling our obligations, but rather, it is a life-giving rela-tionship with a person - Jesus. We believe one way for these encounters to happen is through a prayer experi-ence, where we can come together as a community to pray, hear a talk and wor-ship Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. Attend the next Encounter night this Thurs-day, April 19. You’ll be glad you did.

Three Paths to Holiness

http://untoldblessing.wordonfire.org/ HOW TO BECOME A SAINT Our ultimate goal is to be a saint. It is our greatest calling and what is de-sired for us by our Creator. Bishop Robert Barron paints a beau-tiful and mysterious image of what it takes to be a follower of Jesus Christ. He lays out three intriguing paths to holiness: 1. Finding the Center 2. Knowing You’re A Sinner 3. Realizing Your Life is Not About You

St. Pius X

Our Lady of Fatima Established On April 17, 1949, Bishop Jeanmard responded to the growing

population of the city of Lafayette by creating the parish of Our Lady of Fatima. It was carved out of the Cathedral parish. At the time, Lafayette already had five parishes including the Ca-thedral, St. Paul, St. Genevieve, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and Our Lady of Wisdom. In less than ten years, the parish was able to build the current church building which was dedi-cated in 1958. In time, other parishes would be carved out of Fatima. These include St. Jules, Holy Cross, St. Edmond, and St. Mary.

The year 2018 is joyous and wonderful for in this year we are privileged to celebrate 100 years of Catholicism, 100 years of spreading the Love of God to the people of South Louisiana by providing the sacraments, celebrating Mass, encouraging the afflicted, visiting the sick and comforting the dying. These have been 100 years of blessing for all of us who have had the privi-lege to be the face of God to the people of Acadiana. As we celebrate, however, it is also important to recognize that there have been times when those who have been called to ministry in order that the Lord’s forgiveness, healing and peace may be experienced by all, have been the cause of much pain and suffering within our community. In order that through the joy of our celebration, those who have been hurt by the Church’s ministers may not be forgotten, Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel and the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette wish to recognize, as part of our Century of Love, those among us who deserve our continued prayers, support and love as they heal from the wounds of abuse at the hands of those, who, by virtue of or-ders, were called to be ministers of the Church. To this end, at a prayer service for all victims of abuse in any form, Bishop Deshotel invites the people of the Diocese of Lafayette to join him in a Eucharistic Prayer Service and a dedication of a mon-ument that will serve as a reminder to all of our constant need to keep in prayer all those who have been hurt by the Church’s ministers. The Prayer Service and Dedication Ceremony will take place at 6pm on Friday, April 27, 2018 in front of Immacu-lata Chapel, adjacent to the Diocese of Lafayette Central Of-fice, 1408 Carmel Drive in Lafayette. All are invited to this prayerful event.
