Have you been involved in the mental health care of a loved one? Do you assist them in complying with their mental health care treatment plan? Are you concerned about a loved one’s compliance with their mental health care treatment plan once the individual reaches the age of 18, or if they are an adult? Once a person reaches age 18, they may stop your involvement in their mental health treatment plan. A limited guardianship for mental health care purposes may ensure your continued involvement, and may avoid the need for involuntary civil commitment by ensuring mental health treatment sooner rather than later. Confidential A limited guardianship for mental health care purposes may qualify as confidential under R.C. 149.43 or Sup.R. 45. Where to start the guardianship process? You start the process by speaking with your loved one’s mental health care doctor. The doctor would need to complete and sign a statement of expert evaluation (probate court form) which is filed with the application for a limited guardianship for mental health care purposes in the probate court of Franklin County, Ohio. Why a limited guardianship for mental health care purposes?

Have you been involved in the mental health care of a loved one? Do you assist them in complying with their mental health care treatment plan? Are you concerned about a loved one’s compliance with their mental health care treatment plan once the individual reaches the age of 18, or if they are an adult?

Once a person reaches age 18, they may stop your involvement in their mental health treatment plan. A limited guardianship for mental health care purposes may ensure your continued involvement, and may avoid the need for involuntary civil commitment by ensuring mental health treatment sooner rather than later.

A limited guardianship for mental health care purposes may qualify as confidential under R.C. 149.43 or Sup.R. 45.

Where to start the guardianship process?

You start the process by speaking with your loved one’s mental health care doctor.
