Framed in a Picture is a musical exposition that concludes composer/saxophonist Odean Pope’s year-long project, Sounds of the Circle, honoring the places, personalities, and musical relationships that comprised the generative environment that fueled Pope’s artistic voice and vision in his North Philadelphia community during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
Join Pope and a stellar ensemble, including Gloria Galante (harp), Tom Lawton (piano), Craig McIver (drums), Diane Monroe (violin), Lee Smith (bass), and Bobby Zankel (alto) in an evening of music that captures the collective genius of North Philly’s jazz innovators and propels us into Pope’s protean, present-day musical imagination.
