Counseling - Code of EthicsWhen Nietzsche Wept

The movie began about Nietzsche and his ongoing relationship with the novelist, Salome, who consulted to Dr. Breuer, a physician, about Nietzsches problems. She was worried about her partner for having problems like suicidal tendencies. She was interested in Breuers talking cure. However, Nietzsche didnt want Breuer to help him, so the physician, along with his student intern Sigmund Freud, decided to become one of Nietzsches patients instead so that he can help him with his talking cure without Nietzsche knowing. As the story goes on, Breuer himself discovered his weaknesses and strengths. He had a difficulty in dealing with Nietzsche so he had to deal with his own problems first. It was Nietzsche who made him realize these things and it made him to dwell more about Nietzsches ideas and became problematic himself. He realized that he was in love with his patient, Anna O. and it bothered him. It was like; Nietzsche was helping Breuer cope up with his problems and vice versa. Breuer lost himself, his loved ones and left the things he loved. Later, he realized that he was wrong for leaving them and decided to go back. At the end of the movie, both of the characters found themselves and bid good bye to each other.

As a physician, Breuer managed to have a distance between his patient, Anna O. whom he really loved and was able to deal with Nietzsches case properly at the end. Breuer might be a good physician, but at some point he was out of the line. The patient has the right to say no, but he did continue to know the patient so that he can try his talking cure. In other words, he forced the patient to continue the therapy even though the patient doesnt want it. He even continued to cure his patient even though he had his own problems. They developed friendship and later on saved themselves from drowning with their own problems.
