The new suite of INTO brochures for our UK Centres has now been launched. To help give you guidance on some key changes to pathways, progression, entry requirements and other INTO updates, we have produced this useful ‘What’s new guide for 2016?’

COURSE NAME CHANGES
International Year OneThe International Diploma is now referred to as International Year One. This name better reflects the nature of the programme but the structure remains the same and offers progression to Year 2 of a range of degrees.
• The International Graduate Diploma has been replaced with Pre-Master’s. This incorporates English language, academic study and postgraduate research skills to prepare for university study.
• The Certificate of Higher Education is referred to as International Foundation.
• The International Diploma of Higher Education is now referred to as International Diploma.
• The International Graduate Diploma of Higher Education is now referred to as International Graduate Diploma.
• The Composite Diploma is now referred to as Combined Foundation and Undergraduate Year One.
CANCELLED COURSES
• No A-level programme.
• No standalone International Diploma for progression to other Scottish universities.
NEW COURSES
• Business pathways merged to form: International Foundation in Economics, Finance and Management
• International Foundation in Mathematics with Economics, Finance and Management
• 4-term Extended Foundation option is now also available for International Foundation Economics, Finance and Management; and Mathematics with Economics, Finance and Management pathways
• April term dates for English for University Study: Mon 03 April-Fri 16 June 2016

INTO offers a range of programmes that are proven to help international students progress to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the UK. Detailed below are new pathway options available at specific centres.

4 What’s new for 2016?
Entry requirements can differ depending on programme, pathway and INTO Centre. Below are updates to existing INTO programmes.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
ENGLISH
• All International Foundation pathways now have the same English entry requirements as the Business, Economics, Society and Culture Foundation pathway: IELTS 5.0 to IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 4.5 in all subskills).
• English for University Study is now IELTS 4.0 (with a minimum of 4.0 in writing).
ACADEMIC
• Graduate Diploma in Architecture: applicants for non-design programmes will not be required to produce a portfolio, but will be required to produce a statement outlining academic achievements; relevant research projects, and any other evidence of relevant skills and experience.
• International Foundation in Engineering and Science: students must hold a GCSE grade C Mathematics or equivalent.
• Now accept IGCSE/GCSE as follows: Considered for entry in exceptional cases only. All decisions must be approved by the Director of Operations and Centre Director. 5 GCSE grades AABBB including relevant Science/Maths.
5What’s new for 2016?
Living in an international community at university provides an unforgettable part of the student experience. Below are some of the new accommodation options available.
ACCOMMODATION
Mansion Park A contemporary and entirely INTO community residence located in the University Quarter of the city; only a 20-minute walk or five-minute bus journey from the INTO Centre. All rooms are queen-sized with en suite facilities and Wi-Fi access. The communal living and dining area is cleaned weekly and all residents are given a complementary annual bus pass. Students can enjoy the support of INTO resident tutors as well as an active social programme, which is delivered on site.
Willow Walk apartmentsShared three or four bedroom apartments each with modern furnishings, a private double bedroom and shared bathroom, kitchen/common area including a dining table, TV and lounge area. The apartments face an open green with grass areas, and there is a common area with PCs, Wi-Fi, large flat screen TVs, vending machines and a small kitchenette.
Stratford ONEPositioned overlooking the Olympic Park, Stratford ONE is next door to Westfield Shopping Centre. Shops, restaurants, bars and a gym are all minutes from the accommodation. The en suite accommodation with shared kitchen facilities is three minutes’ walk from Stratford International station (DLR line) and less than 10 minutes’ walk from Stratford mainline and Underground station. A roof terrace offers panoramic views, and secure bike storage and door entry systems offer additional security.
Furzedown Student VillageLocated in Tooting, about 20 minutes’ walk from St George’s. Recently refurbished to a high specification, it boasts 263 en suite, single study rooms, all with upgraded facilities and a well-equipped shared kitchen area. Fast Wi-Fi access is included, as well as access to a large shared common room, quiet study area, on-site gym, laundry facilities and a 24/7 security warden.
RegencyConsisting of 12 modern flats with, which are home to 99 residents. Regency is located in the town centre, close to local transport links and express supermarkets.
NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY LONDON CAMPUS
Scape ShoreditchLocated near vibrant Old Street, this accommodation option is within walking distance of the Campus. With the same modern design as Scape East Mile End, the Shoreditch building also includes a games room and a rooftop landscaped garden. In addition to shared kitchen facilities, rooms include a kitchenette, along with an en suite bathroom and 40 inch HDTV.

The Terms and Conditions are specific to each INTO Centre. However there have been some updates that are applicable to all UK centres, these are detailed below:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
CONFIRMATION OF ACCEPTANCE FOR STUDIES (“CAS”)If the Student requests any changes to the information on the CAS (other than an update to the ‘Fees paid to date’ information after making further payments) after INTO has submitted the details to the Home Office and a new CAS is required, the Student will be charged for each request at the then prevailing rate. At the time of going to print the cost is £21 but is subject to review by the Home Office.
CONTRACTS MADE BY DISTANCE COMMUNICATIONa. If INTO has made its offer for a place
on the Course and the offer has been accepted by the Student solely by means of distance communication (i.e. if up to the point when the contract is concluded there has been no face-to-face contact between the Student and INTO or INTO’s representative) then the contract between us is a “Distance Contract”.
b. Students are entitled to cancel a Distance Contract at any time up to the earlier of:
i. 14 days from the date when the Distance Contract is concluded; or
ii. the date on which the Student starts the Course.
STUDENTS WHO ARE UNDER 18INTO strongly recommends that parents appoint a UK based guardian, who must be at least 21 years of age, for international Students under 18 years of age.
BEHAVIOUR, WELFARE AND ATTENDANCEBy signing the application form the Student agrees to adhere to INTO’s Disciplinary and Attendance Policy, which requires attendance of at least 95%. The student should refer to the Disciplinary and Attendance Policy provided at induction. Students will be registered with the University and will therefore be required to abide by the rules and regulations of the University.
CLASS SIZEMaximum of 16 students per class for English language teaching.
For INTO Manchester, the maximum class size is 20.
SELT INFORMATIONInternational Foundation/International Year One update:
If you are applying for a Student Tier 4 visa you must have an IELTS for UKVI to apply for your visa. If you have any questions about this test, our experienced team will be happy to help you. Email your questions to:
Graduate Diploma/ Pre-Master’s SELT update:Please note that in addition to the UKVI IELTS, INTO is able to accept other English language qualifications.
