KRVC launched a new program to promote energy efficiency audits and retrofits throughout our community. Small business owners and other property owners are encouraged to contact KRVC or register on our website. KRVC can assist inter-ested property and small busi-ness owners with scheduling audits (many of which can be done for free or at a low cost). Small business owners are en-couraged to take advantage of KRVC's "Go Green" Retrofit Grant Program. Energy

Efficiency Audits or Surveys recommend potential energy-saving upgrades for lighting, cooling and refrigeration. Retrofits are the measures and upgrades suggested in the surveys to make the building more energy efficient. The "Go Green" Retrofit Grant Program is currently offered only to small business owners and, since the fund-ing is very limited, these grants are competitive. However, KRVC is actively seeking additional funding

to expand this program. Therefore, all interested prop-erty owners are encouraged to contact KRVC or register on our website. KRVC will create a list of Projects Awaiting Funding once all the current funding is used or for projects that fall outside the guidelines of our current grant program for small business retrofits.

KRVC thanks Con Edison for funding our Small Business Audit Promotion and Retrofit Grant Program.

Williams Funeral Home, Riverdale Greentree, Magnum Comics & Cards, the New Little Shoppe, John’s Botany Bay, Jasper’s Pizza and more.

In August and September, KRVC distributed “energy efficiency/go green” promotion bags to 200 businesses to further promote the energy efficiency surveys and “Go Green” Retrofit Grant Program. These efforts will continue as an ongoing project of KRVC. We

are committed to making our community a “Green Community!”

KRVC Launched our NEW Energy Efficiency Project in June

Energy Efficiency Forum & Breakfast

Vasquez, Con Edison Energy Efficiency Program Manager; and Kate Shackford, BOEDC Executive Vice President.

All guests were entered for FREE in a raffle for a special prize - a $200 gift certificate for the Riverdale Greentree Restaurant! The first 20 guests received a $50 gift certificate from local merchants! All guests received goody bags with energy efficiency information, Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs and more!

KRVC thanks everyone who attended and otherwise supported the forum including Con Edison, BOEDC, Community Board 8, Grow NYC, NYSERDA, ENAWAC, BronxNet, The Riverdale Press, the Kingsbridge BID, Council Member Cabrera's Office and dozens of community businesses.

KRVC launched our program to promote energy efficiency audits throughout our com-munity in a BIG WAY on June 15! Through a gener-ous grant from Con Edison, KRVC held an Energy Efficiency Forum and break-fast attended by over sixty members of our community representing small businesses, co-op boards, Community Board 8, not-for profits and more.

The Forum Speakers in-cluded Elyssa Rothe, Energy Smart Communities Coordi-nator, NYSERDA; Esteban

After the forum, KRVC’s focus has been to promote the energy efficiency audits and surveys for all interested small businesses in our community. KRVC is also supporting other property own-ers interested in “going green.” To date, several businesses have been surveyed and are currently being retrofitted so that they will operate more efficiently.

These businesses include

KRVC thanks Mr. Stand for his dedication to KRVC and for the numerous contribu-tions he made to the organization during his long ten-ure as President. The Board elected Cori Worchel as its new President. Ms. Worchel has strong ties to the KRVC community. She grew up in Riverdale and at-tended PS 24.
