Answer:Honesty is truthfulness.

An honest person has the habit of making accurate, trustworthy statements about life, self, others and God. An honest person represents himself just as he is and tells others the truth about themselves.

Honesty is not “expressing everything that goes through your mind.” That’s transparency, and a person can be honest without being transparent. However, no one can be consistently honest without a commitment to the truth.

Honesty will, at times, hurt someone’s feelings, but that does not mean that dishonesty is preferable.

Dishonesty is reproved in Scripture.God does not accept a person who “practices deceit” Psa 101:7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

And Jeremiah speaks of a wicked society;

Jer 9:5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

To purposely misrepresent God is a serious offense.

A liar is defined, first and foremost, as someone who denies that Jesus is the Christ.

1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

“Trusting in lies” is consistent with forgetting God

And those who claim to know God but contradict Him, add to His words, or refuse to follow or accept His commands are also called liars.

1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1Jn 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Honesty as a character quality is a sign of the Spirit’s work in a person’s heart. God cannot lie, therefore, His presence in a person gives rise to truthfulness. God’s people are honest.

Humankind is not naturally honest Psa 116:11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

Dishonesty leads to more and more wickedness Pro 17:4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.

The honest person is concerned with telling the truth about God and fostering the spiritual growth of other people

The Apostle James gives us some advice about our speaking, when he discusses the tongue;

Jas 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

Jas 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
