What is the food pyramid?
• An easy way to show the groups of food that make up a good diet.
• Tells you to eat a variety of foods from all 5 groups.
• Tells you how much of the foods in each group to eat to stay healthy.
Why is it shaped like a pyramid?
• The pyramid shape helps explain what foods you should eat more or less of.
• The foods that make up the widest part should provide the biggest part of your diet.
• As you go up the pyramid, the amounts of different foods you need get smaller.
