SecuritySecure large porous sites, Secure numerous doors, Staff Screening coming on-shift, Visitor control

Bed CapacityIncrease and Decrease at the same time – Take on more admissions but with less density in each area of care

Infection ControlReduce Density to “spread out” in the existing building, Create Isolation rooms, Provide acute care

Food ServicesMost levels of care are used to receiving 3 meals a day plus snacks – Dining areas are not in use to comply

with social distancing, Communities are adapting to room service models (…and straining capabilities.)

Some SL communities in some levels of care house residents in Semi-Private units where they share

living space and a bathroom - Impossible to provide social distancing or sequester

Some SL Residents have nowhere else to go – no family at all or none locally to shelter with

Some SL Residents suffer from Dementia and do not understand the COVID situation.

Some SL Residents are bed-ridden, need specialized care or are on Hospice.

But there are MANY others who are aware and flexible. And worried.

SL Communities may be interested in transferring Non-COVID residents

to reduce density in their existing buildings, to increase social

distancing, to facilitate more space for isolation/observation and to

reduce pressure on stressed Staff.
