What do you think are the strengths of your program of study?

The English teachers are excellent. Flexible schedules They enabled me to take a variety of classes that I expressed an interest in. These courses geared me in the

right direction to my field of study in a four year university. All the teachers and the material I’ve learned a lot, since I’ve been here. The instructors – Give xxxx/xxxx a raise! The variety of classes The strengths of the Associate In Arts college transfer program has simply allowed me to attain the first

two years of a four year degree through a local facility. I have great teachers like Dr. xxxx and a great counselor like xxxx. The transfer program offered in NC b/w the community colleges and universities allow for some great

opportunities. The program was challenging and my instructors had a excellent interaction with the classes that I attended.

I believe that I have been prepared to attend a 4 year institution. Well-rounded and try/learn a lot of new things. Great teachers, nice facilities, wonderful staff Teachers Highly knowledgeable professors Prepared for next level of study or work Dedicated teachers, good resources, helpful staff The ability to transfer to a four year college is great, and the shock value of the liberal arts education was

very fulfilling. Having to take 3 semesters of English All the dedicated teachers willing to give you time when needed. Transfer It is preparing me to go to a 4 year university. I feel that I have more diverse knowledge now then I did before taking these courses. having to start completely over. English department, history, humanities My main reason for choosing to get a AA was the amount of pathways it creates. I am using it as a stepping stone to a four year degree. CFCC has an excellent german teacher (xxxx) Everything, best community college I’ve been to. I like the fact that my AA will act as my general studies @UNCW – therefore my time spent @ CFCC was

worthwhile and on same pace as if I had been @ UNCW. I love how many classes CFCC offers. I also like the small classes where we get more “teacher” time. A lot In Associate in Arts degree it is very broad. You have a large variety of classes that you get to be in and

choose. Its like you get a little taste of everything. Well rounded knowledge of core studies. Also the resources that are around for one to

achieve their goal is good most of the teachers in this program are very helpful. History, English The teachers were the strengths of my program. They set high goals and helped me reach them. Good teachers There is a variety of classes to choose from. All of my teachers were very friendly and helpful. Very transferable for students who have not decided what program they wish to major in at a 4-year

university. Also, the affordability. Teachers made classes interesting CFCC has give me strengths in my math and English skills College Transfer allows you to figure out what area of study you want to be a part of and at the same time

you can take courses that will count towards many areas of study before you do decide. Have people that were in the field. I felt like most of the teachers I have had at CFCC cared about their students and tried to prepare us for a 4

year college (the neutral on #11 & 8 are because I do not know what to expect from a 4 year college in comparison to CFCC.

Gaining skills to apply to a 4 year college. I feel my program selected was a very smooth transition from high school to college material. The

educators for this program are highly educated in their expertise. The strengths are the staff and teachers all working together to make you succeed. Basic all round knowledge prepared me to go to next level. History, Philosophy, and political science were among my best courses.


I like the emphasis on upper level classes to improve eligibility for transfer. My program offers a broad area of study, preparing me for any area I may continue to study. I feel great in knowing I have almost completed my college level general ed. Teachers are very helpful and most of the time available. understood. I have had some really wonderful teachers that have been willing to help me with anything. CFCC has provided me with the best educational environment to allow me to effectively learn and analyze

new and innovative approaches to dealing with groups, governments, organizations, and corporations in areas such as the global AIDS epidemic or the US trade deficit with the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). As a result, not only has Cape Fear provided me with the fundamentals required for an Associates degree, but perhaps more importantly has prepared me to continue my education at the University level.

The best part about CFCC is the small class size. If a student has questions it is easy to have them answered.

of CFCC the two year AA degree gives people like me who did poorly in high school a second chance to make it into

university as a transfer student. The way that the teachers give you one on one attention and care. That’s hard to find. Most of the courses were well put together and compelling enough to not seem like a buden. It definitely offers a well-rounded course selection. I got a feel for a little bit of everything and it was very

Nothing I do not believe anything about my program of study needs improvement? Nothing comes to mind I think this college has a great Associate In Arts program for transfer students. Better advising As a non traditional students, I would like to see more night and internet courses. The courses fill so

quickly due to the limited space in many of the courses. Program of study was fabulous. Advising is poor at CFCC. I have taken unnecessary classes at CFCC b/c of advice given to me by

advisory. I do not have any suggestions or improvements. Help with a counselor and career testing, both have left me confused and unclear on what to do next and

what classes I need to graduate.


Simple class registration N/A More science classes-particularly biology Could have been a little more challenging, but overall everything was set up very well. Social science Math Policy in concern with students that are victims of extreme emergencies. (ie: I was failed because I missed

too many days from being hit by a car-even though I was carrying a 3/5 average for the semester.) Course scheduling I don’t think anything needs improvements. I don’t think anything needs improvements. N/A Nothing There are some classes I had wished to take that are only offered in certain semesters. Had I known that, I

would have structured my schedules differently. I understand that all classes cannot always be offered but I feel that it is important to make that clear to students from the beginning. Having said that, I did miss orientation. All in all, no complaints.

None Teacher/student relations I think that math is my weakness and would like to improve on that more. Math Need more flexible class schedules There should be a better selection of night classes. Math and Science Lab scheduling made it extremely difficult to compact my school day therefore making it

difficult to work as many hours as I needed. Web Advisor Program evaluation is difficult to read. Lunch lady extremely rude – all the time (dark hair serves not food)

the summer. I found that few weren’t. Make hybrid classes an option. I love math. I love learning it. But doing the required work over the internet taught me nothing. For some people like myself, we need to be taught math.

Advisors, more knowledgeable Future college counseling I wish there as a transfer counselor who knew more about NC universities More outside resources. Exceptional program I do not like the introduction of course compass/my accounting lab programs. I have found that a lot of the

information on these programs do not pertain to what we do in class. I also feel like it is very time consuming as compared to paper and pencil exercises especially when you are taking a calculus class and trying to enter derivatives.

Organization of advisors Perhaps the knowledge of what you can do with your particular major (in Wilmington area, if possible). Or

more information on what classes you need to take to get your degree and further your planned career. I think the professors need to be evened out. Different professors should teach the same subject matter. It

should not depend which teacher you have, weather or not you get a good grade. n/a nothing my test taking skills math classes need improvement except for xxxx less attention to the science/math department. I really felt like the sciences,

especially A&D were good courses. The vast experience of most of the instructors, from education to their real world experience Teachers The environmental science classes b/c of my field of work (agronomy) they were the most helpful and

informative The amount of sciences and their level of difficulty A strong background/headstart to further studies Teachers The CHM’s and MAT’s classes will be a big help when I transfer into the clinical research program Knowledgeable professors Math Science Wonderful science teachers! I feel that the professors in the natural science department that I encountered were very knowledgeable and

seemed to sincerely come about my understanding of the subjects at hand. Professor xxxx was amazing. Great school to attend. The desire for the students to succeed is evident by the faculty & staff. Friendly and helpful teachers I believe that the biology courses are excellent and have prepared me for a higher education The teachers in the science department are all great and are great at teaching the material. The two teachers

I would like to mention are Dr. xxxx and Mrs. xxxx. These two teachers seem to really care about the success of each of their students and are both willing to help students outside of class time, even if it is not their office hours.

If the paralegal program is going to thrive, then it desperately needs teachers like Dr. xxxxx. those who are serious from those who are not


It seemed as if too many students were allowed to advance in the program with out some very basic grammar skills. Also, students should be made aware of extra credentials needed.
