What have you learnt about technologies from the processes

of constructing this product?

Physical Kit used for photosFor the images that I have taken for my products I have learnt the art of three point lighting within a studio and different shots and angles that I should use with my DSLR Nikon camera for the best image results.

Digital Kit

Through the making of my products I have been working on a PC at college and a laptop at home, I have been using a variety of new software and learning how to use them. This software has been a mixture of both online and offline software.

Software

I have learnt how to use the Free online Blogging site, this is where I post all of my work onto I have learnt how to create a post and to embed things into posts from other webpages such as slide-share.

I have learnt how to use the online website Flickr, to analysis of media texts, I have learnt how to upload images and to ad notes to them to explain my analysis of each thing, this helped me to develop my analytical skills.

I have learnt how to use Prezi an online site to analyse media texts this widened my ability to use online applications but also taught me how to embed things onto my blog from other websites.

I learnt how to use the online web application called slide share which enabled me to take power points that I had made on my laptop at home and upload them to embed them into my blog so they could be viewed at college, this helped my understanding of ways to transfer information over the internet and widened my knowledge of online applications.

I have learnt how to use Photoshop to make my products, I have learnt how to use tools such as layering tools, lasso tool, Photoshop rulers, blending options, wrapping texts and retouch tools. This helped my understanding of how professional media products are created and how to edit photos and layout my media products.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

• I can get to my work from both college and home so it is easy for me to keep up with deadlines

• I don’t have to worry about the software downloaded on my computer with the free online soft wear

• I learnt new techniques and therefore broadened my knowledge for the future,

• Using online applications like Prezi it made my evaluations more interesting to look at and more manageable to read

• Online applications made it easy for me to ‘Show’ the examiner my working ideas.

Disadvantages

• The college network is not amazing so sometimes we could not access our online work

• Because online soft ware was free it was not totally glitch free

• I had Photoshop CS6 as college but only CS2 at home so the quality of work on both differed and I wasn’t able to do everything at home that I could at college.

• I had to work with software that I was not totally comfortable with so it wasn’t always amazing quality.

• Online applications like Prezi did not push me to go into as much detail in my evaluations as I may have done in an essay (there is much less text in a Prezi presentation.

Continued use of Technologies

After learning how to use a wide variety of new technologies for my media coursework, I do feel that I shall be continuing to use much of what I have learnt. For instance: I really enjoyed making my media As coursework blog as I found it an interesting way of presenting ideas, so I now have my own Blog for my own private activities such as photography. For my Education I do feel that applications like Prezi and Flickr are going to come in extremely useful, especially as I know exactly how to use them. I have gone on to use the skills that I have learnt in Photoshop in media in my photography Course.

So I know that the continued usage of the new technologies that have been brought to my attention shall not be confined to my media studies.
