There will be two to four winners of that from each of the 47 camps throughout County Wexford (a boy and a girl for hurling and a boy and a girl for football) who will be brought to Wexford Park in August for a fantastic activity day as part of their prize.

GAA On The Quay

Planning has started for the June bank holiday event taking place on the quay in Wexford town. This event will see over 200 children taking part in an exhibition hurling tournament with the backdrop of Wexford town. It is also planned to have other novelty GAA attractions, creating a festival atmosphere.

Club / School Activity Days

Wexford Coaching & Games have been involved in assisting clubs and schools organise and run activity fun days for their members over the course of the last month. This has helped build the relations between schools and their local clubs, as well as getting children active and participating in GAA. We plan to continue this assistance over the next couple of months.

Under 14 Academy:

Last weekend our under 14 footballers went to play their first blitz which took place in Waterford. Teams present on the day included Offaly, Waterford & Wexford. Both our north & south squads won all their games. Well done to all involved. This weekend our under 14 hurlers and footballers are back training this weekend.

Under 15 Academy:

Our under 15 footballers played their blitz against Meath & Westmeath. Both our teams lost to Meath however were very competitive against Westmeath. Both our hurlers and footballers are back training this weekend.

Under 16 Academy:

Ferbane in Offaly was where our under 16 footballers played their blitz. Counties included Clare, Limerick, Offaly & Wexford. Wexford were very competitive and enjoyed their day even with 7 to 10 players missing for the day. Both the footballers and hurlers are back training this weekend in preparation for their next challenge games.

Over 150 footballers played in blitz games over the weekend and thanks to all managers, coaches and mentors for their efforts to date. Best of luck to all our Academy players who are sitting the junior cert over the next few weeks.

We would emphasise with clubs the importance of coaching standards and how these sessions will further assist you with your coaching.
