My trip started off leaving late Thursday night from my hometown of Fullerton, CA with my good friend and former

Kommander Industries Technician Kris Ingram. We drove through the night to arrive about 4 hours later just one town south

of Pismo in Nipomo. We crashed at his cousin's house only to wake up just hours later in order to get onto the beach early

Friday morning. Pro Ski Racer Jeff Troegner had already showed up days before to mark off our territory at Mile Marker 4 as

always. I spent most of the day setting up my camp. I have been to Pismo one too many times and have developed a pretty

sweet set up utilizing my truck bed tent an easy up, some tarps, and a whole lot of zip ties. I can't forget that this year I upgraded

my set up by digging a 50 yard long 1 foot deep trench from my tent to Jeff Troegner's trailer where I buried an extension cord

which would power my shelters light bulb using Jeff's generator. Thanks Jeff. I got to get my ski salty again riding some surf,

as people started coming in one by one throughout the hours. The surf was the best Friday afternoon. It was super clean for

Pismo with clear skies, low

wind, and tall peaking

sets. It was a great way to

start the trip from a riding

a later appearance that night

after some trailer problems

kept them at snail's pace.

We awoke to a very wet foggy Saturday morning. Fortunately, the fog began to dissipate throughout the day to keep the weather more overcast with mild winds. The surf was not quite

as nice as Friday, but it did not stop the all day surf shredding session with riders from all over. Tom Suchodolski aka Tomski, from Lake Havasu City, AZ was the marathon man of the weekend

riding the piss out of his buddy Robbie's back up square nose superjet all day. Stanton High just got his broken wrist cast off and B-lined it for the first back flip wave he could find to show

everyone who knows how to flip his local stomping ground. Zack Bright made it out to debut his fresh Blowsion Rasta style paint job on his lightweight hull in the surf. Continued...

The best part about every Pismo freeride is the quality of the never ending

shenanigans. As freeriders, we have come to understand that the surf isn't always the

best at events, the sun does go down, and the wind can come up. All these factors make

a trip out to Pismo just to ride jet skis pretty lame, very quickly. Which is why almost

every rider comes prepared now with some sort of dirt/sand toy most likely less than

100 cc's that is fit for any 8-12 year old. This being said, what do you get when you

give a few freeriders a TBM beach tote, 2 pieces of plywood, 2 shovels, some man sodas,

and add some kids quads and dirt bikes? You get a big ankle busting ramp jump with

no landing ramp in the middle of camp to bring everyone together by the highly

likely chance of someone's demise. At night time, gasoline tends to be added to the

equation which gets you a TBM/plywood ramp jump that is now on fire. This is how Friday afternoon started and carried on through the night as freerider Christian Young and I attempted to

dig a full AMA style mini monster cup track that we would all be able to have races on later. The motivation to finish the track quickly diminished as the sun went away and cold, foggy, and

wet weather rolled into the campsite.

This year's Pismo Rager was just as eventful if not more so than every trip to Pismo. As freeriders, we all find our way to Pismoquite a few times during the year to get together and ride, howeverthe annual October Pismo Rager gets its title from a lasting tradition. It isto my understanding that for years after every World Finals, a large groupof riders from all over would make their way from the event in Lake Havasu,AZ down to Mexico for the annual “Mex Rager”. Riders like Rick Roy,Joe Kenney, Chris MacClugage, Fuzzy, Randy Laine, Chris FischettiClay Cullen, Jeff Jacobs and many others would party on the beachand ride surf. This event brought all disciplines of jet ski riders togetherwhether it was seasoned Freeriders, Pro Freestylers, Pro/AM Racers,and even the average enthusiast. They would Ride all day and party thenights away with all kinds of shenanigans in between. This happened for years until the events leading to the instability of Mexico's security. Years later asmore Rager like Freerides began to form in Pismo, Joe Kenney brought together the first Pismo “JK Rager” the week after the 2008 World Finals. A few yearslater we are still holding this tradition alive annually the weekend after the World Finals, where friends from all over unite on the beach at Pismo, CA to shredand party.

His brother, 2011 Grayland Open Amateur Freeride Champion Jake Bright also

made it out to throw down with his big bro on his hacked out green goblin superjet.

Jared Ajlouny represented the Nor Cal crew as always, bringing a boat load of friends

with him to party. As well as throwing down flips on his Waterdawg Rok hull. Also

rocking a new Rok hull was Chris Elmore who stomped his first back flip! I was

really happy for Chris because he was going for it since the last Pismo trip.

He was destroying everything inside of his ski except for the ski itself trying!

Cuong Son also came down from Nor Cal to go ape on his Rickter FR-2 hucking some

clean flips and still going huge on his signature whipped out barrel rolls. Weston Halstead

drove all the way down from Eugene, OR to party with all of us in the surf riding his killer

puzzle piece painted Yamaha Superjet. DJSA Racers Pete Zernik and Camo Joe came out

with their RV Race rigs to provide the back bone to our camp corral so we could party no

matter how bad the wind blew. A nice surprise this year was having Tem Berkey of Superfreak

skis out there with his wife and kids. They came all the way from Florida to the World Finals in

Lake Havasu just the week before. They came to Pismo to get in on the tradition of the Pismo

Rager while they were so close. Tem must have had a 10 gallon gas tank in his ski because

he rode all day. I have never seen a scientist surf a jet ski before until I watched Tem ride his

superfreak hull. Everything he did was smooth and had great flow but right when you think

you saw it all he would rip a flip off a 1-2ft wave. It was great to see him having such a blast

out there and he gave everyone there an opportunity to ride a few of the hulls he had for demo.

As for Oceanside crew, we came in heavy this year. Curtis and Jimbo made sure the

morning glass was properly shredded. All while Matt Smith bombed his huge signature nose

stabs on is IPD designed American flag superjet. John Howe showed the sloppy Pismo surf

no mercy as he hacked lips and bombed huge re entries. Kevin Rickon also known as

KR hitched a ride with some fellow riders from San Diego to

ride his 2 year Square Nose conversion project. He really put too much time into that build but he looked great shredding surf that weekend. John Hall rode so hard he broke his throttle cable

and fell back to the ramp jump in camp, to do some signature one handed jumps with a drink in hand. The Young's came back with vengeance as the Booster Nugget/ Amateur Freeride

Champion Christian Young went so big on his BOB hull he busted his knee. His dad Mike Young, not to be confused with announcer Mike Young, got back in the saddle after a gnarly back

injury. Mike was choosing one wave at a time and murdering each one properly. Fuzzy aka Craig Boyd, the Legendary Kiwi surf slasher came in hot showing everyone how the art of shredding

is done on a Kawasaki.

As if the epic caliber of riding that day wasn't enough. Saturday night started out with a beer

pong tournament hosted under the easy ups of the Liquid Militia beach front establishment. As that

party raged on it also happened to be the night of the Monster Energy AMA Super cross Race.

This is where Pro Ski Racer and “Party Party” Animal Jeff Troegner came in to keep the party rollin.

Jeff as always brings his mobile palace on wheels which we like to call “The TroegMahal.” We all

stuffed inside of to drink and watch the race on his satellite TV. As soon as the race was over the

beach tote/plywood ramp mysteriously caught fire again attracting brave/stupid souls from all over

on kid size quads and bikes like me to try and set the night's distance record.

The following morning was no less of an epic shred fest as Saturday, with slightly smaller surf but

warmer and sunny weather. As the morning progressed one by one people would pack up and leave

after burning their last tanks in the surf. This would wrap up yet another very successful and fun

Pismo Rager. I can't wait to do it all again in March at mile marker 4 for the Spring Break Pismo Freeride!

The king of Goleta Beach surf Andrew Morin came out to shred with his barefoot “surf

stance or die” style that was seamless, fluid, and demanded respect. He also brought

a few buoys which all racers and fast moving freeriders were all over for some good

training. Taylor Curtis made it down from Morro Bay, CA just simply to blow

everyone's mind on the beach as he stomped under flip re-entries like it was nothing.

He went yet again for the double back flip attempt with his shoe laces secured this

time ;). Taylor was also the care taker of our very own Alaskan Freerider Tanner

Thomas, who was just on his 2 month annual Freeride tour which was cut short at

the Blowsion SurfSlam. His brand new superjet was ripped away from him in the

middle of a heat and was never seen again beneath the waves. He also had a rescue

hook go through his hand between his thumb and index finger in an accident trying

to rescue the ski. This being the case Taylor Curtis aka T.C.Freeride stepped up to help

Tanner, letting him stay with him at his house and work on bomb proofing a new

2010 superjet hull he had pulled together for Tanner. Despite his recent injury, Tanner

was out on almost every ski he could ride slashing faces of waves and hucking a few

back flips to boot, I'm proud of that kid!

Mark and Helen Murphy came all the way from Chicago, IL for their annual vacation to

participate in the Freeride Ragers back from the Mexico Rager years. It is always great to

see the Murphs, Mark mutilates the surf on his Rickter FS-1 while Helen gets down on her

signature snake skin superjet and snaps some killer riding and life style photos for all of us

to reflect on when we get home. I always smile when I see them because they really bring

to life the joy and possibility of traveling all over to freeride with someone who you share

your life with. That is always the coolest thing to see. I shouldn't be surprised to see that out

of those two being that their wedding photos were taken standing on their Kawasaki

750 SXi's side by side on the beach!

Neil Ohrdolf made it out from Colorado to lay it down on his Polaris Octane and as if he

couldn't just leave with a great experience he also made out like a bandit with a fresh

Superfreak hull! I can't wait to see what Neil will do on that ski soon. This trip was great

for me because somewhere in the middle of my ride on Saturday something clicked for me. I

simply understood the way surf created its power when it curls and how to use the bottom

of my hull to ride the wave utilizing that power rather than a lot of steering. What came out

of that is a faster, more powerful, and fluid surf style that I always saw Joe Kenney ride with.

It all started to make sense to me and I couldn't get out of the water for hours at a time. It brought

me to try my first rail grab nose stabs and rail grab re entries which were successful. This was

definitely a great mile stone for my surf riding and I really look forward to making more progress at

the start of next year!

COMEBACKX-2'sX-2's

Back in 1986, Kawasaki introduced a two person Jet-Ski and named it the X-2. The ski was a fixedsteering hull small and compact with a 650cc two cylinder engine giving the pilot a motocross feel forthe water. This little rocket made way for another class of racing into the IJSBA throughout thelate 80's and into the early 90's until Kawasaki discontinued production in 1995.

Lets fast forward to 2011, as a token of appreciation to the racers of the early days, the IJSBAre introduced two classes to commemorate the past. Vintage Ski which was a class for the Kawasaki JSmodel hull and Vintage X-2 . Both classes were run on the infamous PRO Weekend. Vintage Ski was ran on PRO Saturday with almost perfect storm conditions on the Colorado River. Sunday was almost idealconditions. With a slight breeze and a small ripple to the water, perfect for the X-2 to strut its stuff.

Now, as for the racers of this class, I can honestly say that I personally knew 8 of the 10 riders on theline, and all of us wanted to put on a great race and a great show for the fans. The X-2's on the lineranged from limiteds to full mods. Most had given up the little 650 for either a 750 or 800cc. Witha 800cc limit for the class, the skis were very close in power.

This was my first time on the line for the World Finals and when my holder, World Champion andIJSBA Hall of Fame inductee Art Chambers, was coaching me on what was needed,I looked back at the grandstands full of people cheering us on. One practice lap to learnThe half track set-up. Back to the line, and Art stated " Next year, I'll be out here with you,This year, your gonna be out in front!" Next thing I know...throttle up...watch the band.......SNAP! Were OFF!

CharlesSimms #109 right on his pump andMe following up in the top 3 off the line.One thing I learned was those BIG HYDRO-TURF Red and Yellow buoys hit back. Thebattles throughout the class were intense. Jonand Charles were battling for the lead when a fewlaps in, Jon must have got thirsty and gave up the

rdlead to Charles. I held a comfortable 3 place positionfor the entire race and even pulled a few "Leg Drags" forthe crowd rounding the final buoy of each lap. Jon DeLarosa#22, John Dewar #007, JJ Hickey Jr #3 and Ryan Gray #21

After the race, many spectators came up to me along with others asking if this class will be around next year. Only the IJSBA can make a definitiveanswer to that one, but with the likes of Chris MacCulgage, Art Chambersand some other notables sparking interest in running this class for years tocome! This year was 9 skis on the line, is 2012 going to have 20?Consider this your invitation to come join the action!

What an experience! This was the most logistically challenging event I've ever attended. Thankfully being part of Team USA - Jettribe has its perks! With their help and experience everything had a way of working out. The opportunity for Team USA to attend this prestigious event was made possible by Jettribe, Motor Field, Hot products, Blowsion, and TiAL Sport. Once the team arrived in Thailand, we were taken care of by Jettribe's local connections, Sam and his family of Motor Field, and good friend Eddie. These guys bent over backwards to help us all out - THANK YOU! In addition, I also would like to thank Riva, Fly, Boyesen, Full Spectrum, and Hydro-Turf for their continued support.

The entire team met up in Bangkok and then made the trip down to Pattaya in a parade of vans. When we arrived we found our skis already unloaded from the container along the side of the Furama, the host hotel. It was a big relief to find everything in the same condition it left Lake Havasu City, AZ before traveling half way around the world. Thursday evening the night before racing began, the opening ceremonies took place. This was a formal event that set the tone and showed the importance of this event. As part of the ceremony Jettribe introduced its 2012 lineup in a fashion show.

For me, Pro Ski ran Moto 1 & 2 on Saturday and Moto 3 & 4 on Sunday. I spent Thursday and Friday struggling to fix a problem I was having with my ski leaving the line on practice starts. Unfortunately I was not able to get it figured out before the races on Saturday... My starts reflected it. Moto 1 I came out 7th and

and was unable to work my way up. Moto two, I struggled off the line again, coming out 5th on the start, but was able to make a couple of passes in the splits and worked up to a third place finish, moving me up to fifth place in the points going into Sunday. The rest of Saturday I spent trying to figure out the issue, finally finding one small issue that didn't give me much hope that the problem was solved. However Sunday morning I was in the water first thing, where I was releaved that it was fixed but a little frustrated also that I had not been able to get it fixed sooner. However it was nice to find it there and not after getting home. The boat was running perfect again. Moto 3 I got a great holeshot and was able to pull a comfortable lead the first couple of laps and was able to maintain it to the end. Going into moto 4, I moved up to second in the points. I again grabbed the holeshot on the outside lane, only this time coming out even with Steven Dualiach from the inside lane. It was a drag race down the front straight and side by Side going into next turn. Dualiach dropped back to fifth after going down briefly and I came out with the lead. For a short moment I had the opportunity to get the cup, but Dualiach quickly got back up to third, then around his teammate Omar Al-Rashid, into second. I was able to hold of Dulliachs charge and earn my second moto win, leaving me with a 7-3-1-1 finish in the four respective motos, just 6 points behind the winner, Dualiach who was more consistant with a 3-2-2-2 finish.

In the end, the entire trip was a great experience! From the trip itself, to the culture, to the people I met, and of course the race itself. It was also good to get a chance to hang out with my fellow Team USA members and the Jettribe gang, getting to know them better. I hope to return for the 2012 World Cup and bring the King's Cup back to the United States next year.

Well getting this trip organized for 2012 was difficult enough. The logistics involved are painful, and to be honest we all work full time jobs, and everyone is a little stretched for time as usual, but with the help of great people and Ambassadors to the sport like Tony Vo of Jettribe, and Gregg Jones of Tial Sport Turbochargers, we were once again able to pull it all together.As usual the containers were packed in Lake Havasu, immediately following the 2011 World Finals on Sunday evening, and at that point we say good bye to our precious cargo until we arrive in Bangkok a month or so later. This is always a tense time. We have heart and soul into this equipment and it is a bit of a “leap of faith” to just let it go.Well let's give a bit of backround. We sized back a bit this year, and only sent a single runabout. With the classes available it only made sense to send the Team Mean Racing Turbo Seadoo GTi for open class, as Jeremy, and Christine could both run it, as there are 3 open classes available. We selected Pro Runabout open for Jeremy, and Am Vet (35+) Open for Christine. David Cabrera would race his venerable #51 Hydro Space in the Amatuer Ski Limited class, and Eric Lagoupolis would race his 800 Super Stock in Pro 800 Open. We also Had Rick Sherker with us running his Kawasaki in Pro Ski Open, but I think there is a separate release for him.To set right the details it is important to mention that Christine had never raced and had rarely even ridden the powerful 450+hp turbo GTi prior to landing in Bangkok, but We assured her that we could turn back the power and make it rideable for her. She made a few rounds in practice and started to feel comfortable, but still timid about the brute power of the machine. Her biggest concern would be the standing starts. So to overcome this fear we spent most of Wed and Thursday evenings practicing real time starts with her, utilizing the full potential of the Antilag launch control system. After only 2 starts she looked like a natural, but we continued. 10 to 15 later it was like second nature. We encouraged her that even if she came home with only great starts, it would be a tremendous accomplishment in this internationally competitive field of riders. Well she did not let us down. In the first turn of the first moto Christine left a door a bit open and took a hard hit to the left side of the boat, causing major damage, but the team was able to repair

it good enough to race the remaining 7 motos unscaved. Christine Milone went 4 for 4 holeshots leading the field in every moto in to the first series of turns. Each moto she got more and more familiar with the boat, and in the end even had some good battles for positions. In a field of 16, Christine came home 11th overall, but more importantly with the title “Holeshot Queen”!! “it was an honor to race this powerful boat in such a competitive class, and to be honest after holeshots like that my traditional “limited” class power will now seem slow !!” commented Christine after the final moto.Jeremy Schandelmayer also had some great races, running as high in the pack as 5th, and as low as last in one moto where we had a battery issue, but in a qualifying field of 24, Jeremy qualified his craft 5th and also came home 11th overall. “The conditions are just not as well suited for our lightweight extremely “pointy” Turbo Seadoo GTi, as compared to the newest generation of hulls. We closed the gap to 4th overall at the close of the day on Saturday, and the race was still up for grabs. Unfortunately a miscommunication, and a late changing pit board, caused David to start his final moto late, extinguishing any hopes for a Kings Cup Podium. “I will be back in 2012, and I will be ready to claim a podium spot. After racing here once, this is my goal for 2012” quoted Cabrera after the races..Eric Lagoupolis, a past veteran of the kings cup, had a week of ups and downs. A boat that ran to perfection at the World Finals in Lake Havasu, came out of the crate with troubles in Pattaya Beach. After 3 evenings of Test Rider Christine Milone, and Mechainc Louis Milone working out the bugs, we had the boat running at 90% by Saturday, but 90% was just not enough to claim Kings Cup Gold in 2011. Eric came home in 7th place, but vows to return and reclaim a podium spot in 2012.All in all it was a spectacular time for the team. The race site was spectacular, the hospitality of the Thai people is second to none in the world, and this would be a great time to thank Team Flamingo Thailand for the use of some “Man Power” for moving boats around without our normal 4 Wheelers and Totes to use. We would also Like to Thank Sam and his Family of Motor Field of Bankok for their hospitality, and logistics coordination, without them this would not be possible. As the Jettribe Team USA and support staff lands in Bangkok Thailand from all corners of the world , Maryland , Florida, Pennsylvania, Florida , California, and Vietnam. The logistics was crazy flying and meeting in one place a total of 17 members! We all landed in Sunday and some on Monday, the first day the team members has some R & R in Bangkok and site seeing.Then all caravan down to the race site Pataya! Then the real works begins, prepping the skis and practice and tuning the skis for the big race weekend!

The Jettribe huge clan split up into two pods. The Race Team headed by Louis Malone and the Jettribe Booth headed by Doan N. The Race Team got to their skis and found the USA pit and got to work like a well oiled machine. For the 2011 King's Cup Jettribe has stepped up our game and had shipped an entire Jettribe booth , complete with all of the retails fixtures, tables , chairs, and a bunch of 2012 Jettribe gear headed for a one way trip to Thailand! It was a big gamble but it worked out well, our Jettribe 2012 gear was a huge hit and we were nearly sold out! This year the Jettribe line took the foreigners by a storm and words cannot describe! Nearly half of the riders were sporting our Jettribe Ride gear!

Sales were phenomenal! But the greatest thing was that Tony Vo from Jettribe was able to establish new relationship and reinforce the existing ones! We are able to spend some quality time with Scott from Hot Products USA and Ted of Hot Products of Japan and reflect on the PWC industry. Plus, Scott Fraizer time spent with Scott Fraizer was priceless. Our Korean distributor flew in to hang out with Jettribe to sign a huge exclusive Jettribe licensing agreement. Plus, Jettribe is one step closer on establishing Jettribe of China and Russia! We are extremely grateful for our growth!

Jettribe is so proud of our Team riders on and off the water. They represent the United States of America in the most honorable and respectful way possible. Plus, after a long day on the water the team was able to participate in the first ever fashion show hosted by Jettribe at the King's Cup in Thailand! The Jettribe Fashion was complimented by a herd of local Thai hotties. Many thanks to Nok S. for announcing the show in Thai!

Jettribe was able to personal meet the Prime Minister and present him with our Jettribe Team helmet. Plus, the Jettribe mini team vest was awarded to the key members who made this awesome event happened.

Before we all realized it the week was nearly to an end, the final awards night was upon the Team USA / Jettribe and we dress in our best Jettribe Pit shirts and supported our team members at the awards night Rick Sherker in Pro Stand Up open place 2nd. taking time $11,000 and Sam Chaisirivichiean place 3rd, in 800 runabout taking another $3,000! We are so proud of all of the our team members for placing top 7 of all classes!

The last day was a calm but sad and emotional day as our team member departed back home to the USA. A few if us stayed behind for help Rick Sherker arrange the sales of his ski finding a new home in Thailand!

The 2011 IJSBA World Finals went off in a big way and was one of the best we've had in years. Presented by Quakeysense, this year's event th marked the 30 year of championship watercraft racing in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and was marked by exciting races, record attendance and

a truly international presence. Thirty six countries were represented and world titles were taken back to the far corners of the globe.

This year's Vendor Alley was overflowing with the latest trick gear and the Vintage Jet Ski Museum was a must see blast from the past that had everyone reminiscing of the “good old days”. With weather ranging from sunny skies, rainy days and windy afternoons, there was something for everyone at this year's Finals. The fastest up and coming ski racers on the planet battled it out in Amateur Ski Open this year to show the world who the next Pro Ski racer will be. When the band snapped it was the Josh Block show from wire to wire. On board his Rick Roy Products/Fly Racing/Impros sponsored Yamaha, Josh put in the ride of his life to claim a world title. Behind Josh was an international field of future stars which was led by Japan's Kawasaki mounted Yuji Shiroki who took second placeon board his super flashy Arizona Jet Ski SXR. A pair of Americans which included Kommander's wonder kid Kody Copenhaver and Peak Power Sports' Jeremy Poper raced their way into third and fourth place respectively, while Evgeny Erukminov traveled all the way from Russia to finish out the top five.Speaking of up and comers, this year's Junior Ski 13-15 year olds put on a heck of a show for the packed Crazy Horse crowd. Looking like a seasoned veteran, Markus Lutsokert of Tallinn, Estonia rode the rails off of his Lix prepped Kawasaki for the big win. Markus was low and mean with turning skills that had many potential sponsors licking their lips and trying to figure out what it will take to sign him up for the 2012 racing season. French rider Einidori Matteo took second place aboard his Hydrospace just in front of Barnabas Satbo of Hungary who was also riding a four stroke powered machine. Just missing the podium was “Blazin” Blake Wicklund of Peoria, Arizona on an SXR and representing Accurate Pool Co. and Kommander Industries. To complete the top five was yet another Hungarian rider with mad skills, Alex-Bendequz D'ess who looked sharp on his Hydro.

One of the most talked about and controversial group of the past year has been the wildly popular Sport Spec class. Boasting eighteen riders, the ultra- affordable class was one the biggest races of the Finalsand was overflowing with top notch talent and big names from years past. Those guys (and girls) are all about funand pure competition and it showed on and off the race course with plenty of smiles, handshakes and support before,during and after the races. Omaha, Nebraska's Mike Moraczewski put the hammer down and was our big winner on board his gray Quikski Racing Sea Doo HX. For the third year in a row, Texas' Joseph Roberts took second place onhis trusty Fly/Sims Racing HX while So Cal's hotshot Casey Mauldin piloted his incredibly slick looking black IPDGraphics Yamaha WaveBlaster to that third and fina podium spot. Stand up sensation Jimmy Wilson, also aboard a Blaster, worked his way into the fourth spot while last year's Sport Modified champion squeezed in for fifth asthe checkered flags flew.

In honor of the World Final's thirtieth anniversary the IJSBA added some new treats for the weekend which included the return of “vintage” racing in the form of Kawasaki X2's and 440/550's on a modified version of the race course. In the X2 class it was all about Team ASAP Racing's Charles Sims. Charles took the big win on his self- built ski in fine fashion, overtaking ASAP/Pyro Image's teammate and legend of the sport, Johnny “X2” Lee at the first turn and never looking back. Jonny put in a tough ride, fighting an ill handling craft for the entire race to claim second ahead of Doug “Karty” Wolf from Modesto, CA. The stand-up guys had their hands full with rough conditions putting their endurance and handling skills to the test. Although he lives in NorCal, Mike Pardonovich still represents Begrade, Serbia on his entry forms, and represents it well! Mike put the hurt on the competition and claimed victory on his PCM/Suki Racing sponsored JS550 in front of another NorCal rider and DJSA outlaw, Ryan Gray. Liquid Militia's Michael Demauro was hangin' tough the entire race to take third place just ahead of vintage ski legend Jeff “Mr. Ski” Harger of Chandler, AZ.

It may be the flashy paint jobs, crazy hairdos or beefy, tricked out skis that make freestyle wildly popular with the Jet Ski crowds, or… it just might be the fact that freestylers pull off some of the raddest, sickest, most insane tricks imaginable. Whatever the reason, nothing packs the house like Freestyle. With only two minutes to shine, its put up or shut up time and in the Amateur ranks it was Derrick Kemnitz Jr. who shined all day long. DK-2 blew the bleachers away and took the World Championship aboard his Ski Clinic/Hydro-Turf sponsored B.O.B. (Backflip on a Budget) ski with innovative tricks like helicopters, one handed and no handed rolls and continuous backflips. Hailing from Hertfordshire, England, Jack Moule bested Lucas Vasconcelos for second place and third place in that order. Pro Freestyle took it to a higher level and drove the crowd nuts with jaw dropping tricks and stellar routines. The cream of the crop of was Sakaida Kazuaki of Magoya, Japan who strung together giant backflips, no handed flips, deep subs and plenty of huge smiles for the crowd. Also putting in a stellar routine was another Japanese competitor Masaki Wake, who earned the runner up spot on his Quakeysense/Hot Products sponsored craft. The final podium spot went to perhaps the flashiest rider of the weekend. Coming all the way from Moscow, Potanin Ivan wasn't playing around and landed some of the highest, gnarliest backflips ever seen in freestyle competition. The crowd approved with massive applause and was clearly surprised when the judges only awarded him with third place.

The unmistakable sound of GP Runabouts launching off the starting line is by far one of the most hair-raising and exciting spectacles of the World Finals. This year's race was nothing short of an instant classic with a last lap, last turn, big win for the United Kingdom's James Bushell. James was in second behind Monster/Kawasaki's Craig Warner for the entire race but did not give up or let off the gas and when Craig went to pick up the black, make up buoy that was all Bushell needed to dive underneath and sneak in for the win. Warner seemed shocked to see Bushell's Sea Doo take the checkered flags and the bleachers erupted in a roar of appreciation for James' never give up attitude. When the waves settled it was Bushell with the GP Runabout championship, Warner with a disappointing second place and Serbian rider George Kasza with a hard earned third place. Rounding out the top five were Japan's Masaharu Takenoshita in fourth on a Sea Doo and another Serbian rider Pablo Lindner on a Kawasaki reeling in fifth place.

Gp Ski rocked the house with an unprecedented 26 riders on the line in the roughest waters of the entire weekend. Withwhitecaps all across the lake and huge, choppy rollers through the entire racecourse the riders had a hard time holding on to their steroid injected machines and it was survival of the fittest for ten laps of mayhem. Many riders took somebig water samples and some either sunk their boats or got so beat up that they did not finish the race. The conditionswere not an issue for the very fast French rider Dardillat Valentin, who piloted his Cobra Watercraft/Tech One RacingKawasaki based machine to the front of the pack in every moto. Valentin charged his way to the win just ahead of multi time champ Kevin Reiterer on his black Hydrospace rocket-ship. Reiterer rode the rails off his Hydro, but couldnot make it happen and it was Valentin with the championship at the end of the day. Third place went to Japanese rider Hideyuki Kurahashi who was also on a Hydrospace and looked at home in the nasty rough stuff. Las Vegas' golden boy Rob Flores was in contention for the overall win but had some troubles in the last moto and had to settlefor fourth place on the weekend while ex Pro Ski champ Brice Lopez from Vauvert, France rode his Bullet SXR intofifth place in what was one of the toughest races of the entire finals.

The Pro Am Women's Ski class is always one to watch and this year's race was one that won't soonbe forgotten, especially for New Zealand's Kylie Elmers. Kylie claimed her first Pro Women's Ski titlewith a dominating second moto that showed the world, and her sponsor, Jettribe, she was a big time player. Coming in second was last year's champion Emi Kanamori on her wicked-fast Monster/Kawasaki sponsored SXR. Emi rode the hell out of her ski, but could not close the gap on Kylie and had to settle for the bridesmaid position. Third place went to Belgium based rider Francois Yuki who looked real sharp on her Quakeysense/Hot Lips sponsored ride and stayed on the gas all the way to the podium. Keeping with the international theme, Hiroshima, Japan's Enami Ishikawa rode hard for fourth place while Beatriz Curtinhal of Portugal slid in for fifth place on her Hydrospace.

One of the most coveted titles up for grabs every World Finals is the Pro Runabout Open champion-ship. This year's twenty rider field was brimming with talent and the gloves were off as the bad snapped. With the one-two punch was yet again, James Bushell taking the big win on his Sea Doo Centre prepped fire breathing monster. James looked lightning fast and was unstoppable as he tore away from the pack and romped his way to the top of the podium. Monster Energy/Mountain Motorsport's “King D” Dustin Farthing tried every trick in his arsenal, but could do no better than second place behind Bushell while his Monster/Kawasaki teammate Craig Warner railed his way from a bad start into third place for the weekend. The other fast Sea Doo in the mix was fourth placerider Jared Moore from Gouteng, South Africa who pulled out all the stops and managed to hold off former World Runabout champion “the fighter” Nicolus Rius on his pink Edge Performance equipped Yamaha.

Saving the best for last, Pro Ski lined up twenty deep for what was an all- out barnburner that showcased the speed, endurance and talent of the fastest stand-up racers in the world. The water conditions were perfect for letting the skis reach top speed and with the logjumps open the fans were in for a treat. Steven Dauliach of Dubai was on fire the entire weekend and won just about every moto he raced in on his way to claiming the title inconvincing fashion. His red and chrome XBJ Racing Hydrospace was always out front,which was a good advertisement for his racing school and with thousands of dollars on the line, not bad for his wallet either! Pulling off a very satisfying second place was Portuguese rider Tiaso Sousa aboard a Kawasaki SXR. Third place was the rising star and Mr. Consistent of the weekend, Fly Racing's Rick Sherker on his black and blue Kawasaki while fourth place was Hydrospace mounted MasaharuTakenoshita, who managed to stay in front of Kevin Reiterer for ten laps and some serious bragging rights.

Another World Finals is in the books and this year's heroes will all be back on the water, training for next year and one more chance at the glory that only winning a world title can offer. It will be hard to top the excitement and atmosphere of this year's finals, but I'm sure Scott Frazier will have something up his sleeve for all of us in some form or other. Whether its innovative track design or huge payouts, we will have to wait until next October to return to where it all started, Lake Havasu City, to get our fix of championship watercraft racing at its finest. It's a long time away, but as they say, it's worth the wait.

Zack Bright here to give you my scoop on my recent travels to Brazil for the 3rd and final stop of the IFWA World Tour.My girlfriend Kristen and I started our trip off heading to LAX for a red eye to Peru, a 5 hour layover then a flight to SaoPaulo then finally to Florianopolis. We were picked up by Monica Levy, Tchello Brandao's driver for the event, and weretaken to Tchello's house to get some sleep from our 30 hour travel extravaganza.

We woke up and started our 3 hour journey with South African Jake Montandon to the Santa Catarina coast where the event was to be held and checked in to our hotel. We met up with Carolann and Rob Giustina and headed to get some pizza for dinner and met up with my 2 favorite Brazilians, Tiago Geitens and Bruno Jacob. We had some drinks and pizza and decided to call it a night so we woke wake up early and test theski that Tchello had built for Jake and I to ride in the comp.

We woke up and started our 3 hour journey with South African Jake Montandon to the Santa Catarina coast where the event was to be held and checked in to our hotel. We met up with Carolann and Rob Giustina and headed to get some pizza for dinner and met up with my 2 favorite Brazilians, Tiago Geitens and Bruno Jacob. We had some drinks and pizza and decided to call it a night so we woke wake up early and test theski that Tchello had built for Jake and I to ride in the comp.

We woke up and headed to the event site which was decked out with our owntents and pit area for the event which was very nice. I tested the ski and it feltpretty good since it was a Lenzi ski that was shortened -3'' off the back and hadlowered gunwales. They had qualifying that day but since I was already ranked for the next day i got to sit back relax and watch the big waves with the amateursand pros going through their rounds. The most interesting thing was when ahelicopter started flying around with a huge Lenzi sticker on the side of it and to my surprise Lenzi himself piloting it. He did a couple fly bys and then landedin the sand. I went over to go say hello and saw he was already in his gear and ready to ride his qualifying round. Lenzi's mechanic was there with his skis readyto go. He handed Lenzi his helmet and he went out rode his round, pulled his skiback on the beach, gave his helmet to his mechanic, got in his helicopter andleft.... it was like something out of a James Bond movie!

We headed back to the hotel and got dinner with Pierre Maixent, Jac Mouazan, Eric Perreud, Tchello, Jake, Carolann, Rob, Kristen and myself. We went to aPizza Buffet that was the craziest thing ever, basically you have a wheel that says “i want pizza” and the servers come by with different types of pizzas from shrimp pizzas all the way to chocolate and ice cream pizza! So good.

The next day I had to ride one heat. I ended up winning so I advanced to the next day. Jake was riding in amateur and pro class so he rode like 5 times that day. He won his classes for amateur but had to ride against Lenzi and barely lost. He had to ride in the LCQ class and win it to stay in the pro contest and won it so he was cleared to ride the next day. Pierre, who nobody was even sure he was coming until the day he showed up, was walking upand own the beach testing skis to ride for the contest. He settled for a yellowsuperjet, won his round, and advanced to the next day. Every- body was riding really strong and we knew the next day was going to be a great contest. Through the day we watched the craziness that was amateurclass. People sinking skis left and right. You could tell locals were having a bit of a tough time because of the overhead super powerful waves. It was very hard to time waves for everyone and surf riding was a difficult task because if you fell, you were definitely going to get pounded by the waves. The rescue team onthe sit down was on it as far as rescuing guys. The team on the beach would swim out to the skis, hook a line on a ski and pull it in from the beach. They had a really good system which was nice to have.

That night Alessander Lenzi invited us to his house to do aflat water show on the river. I figured it was going to be acouple people from the event and was going to be pretty mellow. We headed over the bridge to his house and i was so far off. There were bleachers full of people on both sides of the river and a ramp in the middle of the river. This was going to be one heck of a show! We got to Lenzi's badass house and thingsstarted to get crazy. Lenzi had a pilot warming up his helicopterin his back yard, David Prado was warming up doing a flat water routine in the river. Jake got on a ski and a few other guys as well as Lenzi, on his 1200cc monster, and headed to the bleacher area. Tchello was on the mic getting the crowd stoked and the helicopter was following the crew of skis low behind them. As they were heading out a firework show went off.

We warmed up in the Jacuzzi and talked about what had justwent down. It was by far the craziest thing i had been a part of and is somethingill never forget. That same night we headed out to Bali Hai for the Jet Waves official party and a pageant to crown the 2011 Jetwaves girl. It was one heck of a party and we all had a blast.

The next morning was the final day of the contest. The waves were big and the beach was packed. I had to ride first against Tiago and I had to win it to advance or risk being sent into the LCQ round. I was excited to ride because I lost to Tiago in Oregon just a few weeks back and was ready to get some revenge hahaa. We headed out and everything was going smooth. I went to do a madonna flip but it wasn't the right wave for that move so i just did a stock backflip. When i landed the ski just died... i sat there trying to get the ski started and was confused because the ski ran great the whole event. I sat there for about 20 seconds and decided i should wave the rescue guys over to tow me in before i got smashed by a wave. They came over and tied up the nose of my ski. I decided to give the ski one more shot and it started right up! I had the rescue team untie me and headed back into the waves. Slightly worried because I lost a good chunk of time I did some surf riding and then went for a barrel roll. I landed the roll and the ski died again... it took another 30 seconds to get the ski running and i was so frustrated that I started punching the crap out of the ski. I knew it was over. There was no way i could come back from that much lost time.

The round ended and i got the news that i lost. I sat in our pit area by myself, trying to take in what just happened. One thing i have learned from all that is, letting those kind of things get to your head is never a good idea. You get way to stressed out and it totally affects your riding and your moral. The best thing is to brush it off and just stay positive, you got to keep your head up.

I waited for my shot at the LCQ round and watched Pierre, Lenzi, and Tiago all riding great. My LCQ finally came and I had to beat a local guy and Jake to advance. I went out and just couldn't put it together. The waves weren't working for me and I was really struggling out there. I came to the beach and prayed that it was good enough to move on. I watched Jakes run and he rode really good. Jake had the best surf riding of the whole event and was really making things work out there. I knew it was going to be close between us.

Next up was the big air event. it was one three minute round. Bruno went first and did a Super Flip while doing a flair and I thought he killed himself. It was super violent and looked like the landing really hurt. Luckily, he was ok but he definitely got the crowd started. Jake went out next and accidentally did a backflip re-entry because he hit the wave super late and lost the ski in the process. Continued...

Lenzi went up next and right at the buzzer did the cleanest plate to plate Double Barrel Roll I have ever seen. It was amazing! The crowd was going crazy. I got an awesome sequence photo of it and made a nice photo for the mag as you can see. I looked at Pierre and he said he was out. There was really nothing that could even touch what Lenzi had just done. I agreed and hoped on the radio to ask tchello who had won between Jake and I in our LCQ round since it was never announced. I said if I won it then Im not going to ride in the big air. Tchello responded with “Jake won the LCQ, if you don't ride the big air then you don't have anything else to do.” I looked at Jake, congratulated him on the win, threw on my helmet and went out for big air. Since I had no more stress from the event and knew i couldn't beat Lenzi, i went out and rode great. I only had 3 mins to ride and did all but one backflip combination, barrel roll combos and even almost landed a barrel roll re-entry on my first try even going for one! The next heat was Tiago against Lenzi and it was a great round. Lenzi was doing huge no handed barrel rolls and Tiago was surfing great while doing flip combos and one hand one foot barrel rolls. Lenzi went for another double barrel roll and only got 3/4 around on this one and hurt his leg on the landing. He lost his ski and swam in to the beach to get his back up ski but time had ran out. It took them a long time to decide the winner. It was a close round but Tiago got the win!

Pierre went and won his next round so the finals were set for Tiago against Pierrefor 1st and Jake against Lenzi for 3rd. At this point Jake had rode about 7 times because of riding in both classes so he was super tired. It looked like he had secured 1st place for AM class so he was stoked either way it went.

Pierre and Tiago set off for a 10 min heat. it was a good round with Taigo surf riding really good while Pierre kicked it off with an aerial assault. Tiago saw that pierre was doing big tricks and set out for some backflips. I see tiago do a flip that looks like a 1 footer but all of a sudden both of his feet came out. His pole hyper extends but he had a death grip and held on thru the whole flip. He landed with his ski flat and his legs over his head like a scorpion. We all thought that something was wrong but before the next wave even came he's up and riding, definitely shaken he went out surfing. Pierre looked like he was struggling with his ski in the surf and would do a really good turn and then would just fall over riding. You could hear his prop cavitating as soon as he would touch white water so you knew that was affecting his riding. He proceeded to do great aerials like we all know he can do and was riding super smooth in that aspect. he lost his ski at one point of the heat so Tiago got some precious time to domore barrel roll combos. All in all they looked super close by the end of the round and you knew it was going to be up to the score sheets.

Lenzi had decided that his leg was too injured to go for another round and opted to sitout. It was all good with Jake as he had just secured a 3rd place finish at his second oversea event and first time riding in the pro class not only riding in AMs at the same time.

The award ceremony began and every one involved in the event was recognized. they started the AM class award with André Martins taking 3rd, Everardo Souza taking 2nd, and Jake Montandon securing 1st place. Jake was stoked! Lenzi took his award for first place in the Big Air. Then the moment we hadbeen waiting for, Jake Montandon took the stage accepting his 3rd place with Pierre and Tiago stand waiting to hear...... “Tiago Geitens takes first place!” The crowdwent crazy and Tiago was so happy. It was a cool moment for sure. They tookthere metals after a classic champagne fight. Next i got called up for securing 3rdplace in points for the whole IFWA tour with Rob standing in for Ross Championfor 2nd and Pierre Maixent taking 1st place and his 5th World Title.

I cant wait for next year with all the knowledge I have now and try to better my placing in thetour for 2012. Right now there are 4 confirmed events bringing Portugal back on the tour andpossibly getting Australia in for a 5th stop, its going to be another amazing experience. I wouldn'thave been able to do any of it with out my sponsors like Cold-Fusion, Blowsion, Light-Weight- Hydro-Turf, Kal-Gard Oil, Liquid Militia clothing, Go-Pro Camera, ODI Grips, Premier Lath And Plaster, My Girlfriend Kristen, and my Family and friends. Then the moment we had been waiting for,Jake Montandon took the stage accepting his 3rd place with Pierre and Tiago stand waiting tohear...... “Tiago Geitens takes first place!” The crowd went crazy and Tiago was so happy. It wasa cool moment for sure. They took there metals after a classic champagne fight. Next i got calledup for securing 3rd place in points for the whole IFWA tour with Rob standing in for RossChampion for 2nd and Pierre Maixent taking 1st place and his 5th World Title.
