Chairman’s MessageOver the past 17 years, we have succeeded in developing the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX)into the region’s prestigious specialized exhibition in vital industries, held annually under the directive of HH SheikhMohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage ofHH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of Dubai Electricity andWater Authority (DEWA).

The 18th WETEX was from 4 – 6 October 2016, as proven to be the biggest meeting ground for investors and decision makersfrom energy, water and environment sectors, under the theme ‘At the Forefront of Sustainability’.

Through elaborately-planned networking events, keynote sessions conducted by top experts and visits by internationaldelegations, WETEX ensured that exhibitors got to interact with key decision makers, investors, buyers and traders.

For the third year in a row, WETEX organized Green Week, which featured a series of community-oriented environmentactivities making WETEX a unique exhibition, attracting diverse social segments as well as organizations. It also gatheredparticipants from dozens of countries, bringing world-class expertise under one roof.

This year under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAEand Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister ofFinance and President of DEWA, the launch of Dubai Solar Show took place which was held i conjunction with WETEX. DubaiSolar Show provided a key platform for the public and private sectors to make deals, build partnerships, review the latest solar-energy technologies, learn about current and future projects in the region and market needs, and explore opportunities totake part in solar-energy projects and programmes.

We, at DEWA, are looking forward to welcome you to WETEX 2017, which will showcase new technologies, products andsolutions in the water, energy, and environment sectors. It will also present a number of investment opportunities through thepresence of exhibiting companies and international trade visitors.

WETEX-Introduction

WETEX is organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA, in line with Dubai’s vision to build asustainable future for the Emirate and is held annually under the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid AlMaktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH SheikhHamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of Dubai Electricityand Water Authority (DEWA)

The 18th Edition of Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition along with the launch of Dubai SolarShow took place from 4th to 6th October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre showcasingthe latest green products, solutions and technologies from over 1,900 exhibitors spanning across 46 countries.This year the event was inaugurated by HH Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation,Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, MD&CEO DEWA, and HE , Matar Al Neyadi,Undersecretary of Energy

Parallel to the exhibition, the 3rd edition of World Green Economy Summit took place on 5th and 6th October

Over the years, the exhibition has seen a significant success with 3 major events taking place on one platformwitnessing thousands of visitors , exhibitors , officials from the world in addition to large number of academies ,Associations , demonstrating the latest technologies on Water, Energy, Green Cities , Environment, Technologiesand Innovations under the Green Week

Dubai Solar Show - Introduction

As the world’s renewable energy industry continues to rapidly grow particularly SOLAR ENERGY in the region, WETEX 2016 launched DubaiSolar Show which was set to be the biggest global solar exhibition in the region. Dubai Solar took place on 4-6 October 2016 at DubaiInternational Convention & Exhibition Centre in co-location with WETEX and World Green Economy Summit.

Objectives of Dubai Solar Show:

1.To bring latest solar innovations in the region and become a unique platform for knowledge-sharing and building partnerships with allgovernment and private sectors in pursuing innovative solutions while supporting Dubai’s transformation in becoming the smartest city inthe world.

2.To establish Dubai Solar Show as a gateway of solar business in the region and annual international event attended by solar energyprofessionals where international exhibitors, buyers and relevant organizations from around the world are gathered.

3.To develop a platform in brightening the framework for its solar projects in the region through benchmarking, launching of projects orprogrammes, and assist in the development or implementation of strategies related to solar sector.

4.To support in elevating the promotion of ‘sustainability‘ as the main theme and objective of WETEX exhibition wherein solar energy isconsidered the future of energy.

World Green Economy SummitHosted by DEWA, The World Green Economy Summit (WGES 2016) is the world’s leading platform to discuss, foster, plan and implement the shift to the green economy forgovernment, business, finance and civil society. The 3rd edition of WGES took place on 5th and 6th October at the World Trade Centre, catering to an audience of nearly 2,500 peopleand was launched under the patronage of H H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Prime Minister of UAE and The Ruler of Dubai.

Under the theme “Driving Global Green Economy”, the two-day summit featured:

1.Plenary sessions to address large-scale issues and showcase key players and their ambitions, strategies and tools to tackle the opportunities and challenges of the green economy

2.Roundtables and workshops for in-depth discussions among buyers, solution providers and financiers on the Public-Private Partnership Platform

3.Bilateral meetings, organized thematic lunch meetings, and matchmaking opportunities at lunch and cocktail receptions

Solar Decathlon Middle EastDuring World Green Economy Summit, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced the names of the teamsselected to participate in the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME) 2018

Dubai will host the Solar Decathlon in 2018, and once again in 2020, to coincide with the Dubai Expo 2020

SDME was created through an agreement between the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA, and the United StatesDepartment of Energy which challenges teams to design and build smart houses that operate solely on solar power

Sustainable Tours

During WETEX and Dubai solar Show, in order to showcase the best practices adopted in the field ofsustainability in Dubai, numerous tours were organized for the delegates and visitors.

1. The Sustainable City Site tour – With Diamond Developers having the largest area on the floor plan, showcasing the Sustainable city modelalong with various initiatives, 4 organized tours were conducted to take the delegation to the Sustainable city site, which is a net zero energycommunity focusing on sustainable living.

2. Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Park - A delegation from WETEX, visited the largest single site solar park in the world which aims to produce5,000 MW by 2030. When completed, the project will achieve a reduction of approximately 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

3. DEWA Sustainable Building – A delegated visited the Al Quoz sustainable building of DEWA which has achieved LEED platinum status, beingthe largest government building in the world to receive the above said recognition

Country Pavilion SeminarsIn order to have engagement with larger audience and showcase the best sustainable practices in various fields, differentseminars were organized, either by individual exhibitors or under the country pavilions:

1. Philips seminar for its stakeholders – Sustainable Lighting for a smarter city

2. Dubai South Seminar - Solar power strategy

3. United Kingdom Seminar for its exhibitors - Emergence of managed solutions in the energy staffing industry,Recruitment and immigration in UAE, etc

Green WeekIn order to raise awareness and promote a culture of environmental sustainability and conservation amongst various communitysegments, DEWA during WETEX organized “Green Week”.

On the sideline of the Green Week, DEWA organized the ‘Sustainability Pledge’ where participants pledged to adopt daily greenpractices and promote them through social networks to underline their commitment towards sustainability.

Some of the activities during Green Week included: Workshop by DEWA on “Lets go green, A drop of Water makes a difference”,Workshop by Dubai Academy “Turning Waves into energy, Hybrid cars”, Mr & Mrs Green Tour & Noor & Hayat Tour, Workshoporganized by Climate Change Ambassadors in DEWA “DEWA Climate Change champions”, etc.

Contractors- suppliers workshopDuring the 3 day event, in order to lay great emphasis on supplier relationship management & commercial & business improvement, 2 major workshops were conducted:

Parallel cooperation During the event, several cooperation and partnerships were formed establishing a strengthtowards a smarter & sustainable future, some of which are listed below:

MoU between DEWA and Philips: DEWA signed MoU with Philips Lighting to enhance cooperation, and exchange skills and knowledgeabout the latest connected lighting systems and services for buildings, in addition to reducing energy consumption.

MoU between Etihad ESCO and Dubai South: on 5th October, Dubai South signed MoU with Etihad ESCO, a subsidiary of DEWA, whichstated the collaboration between 2 entities to provide advisory and implementation services for its energy efficiency and environmentalsustainability initiatives, as well as implement the adoption of Dubai Green Building Regulations across the city.

Our participantscame in contact with many potential customers from Dubai, The Gulf Region and beyond. Philips lighting: Philips Lighting had a great 3 days Wetex show participation, with many customer engagements during our thoughtleadership panel discussions and showing our latest innovations in connected Lighting at the booth.

Duko Green Energy LLC: Dubai Solar Show at WETEX gave us an opportunity to introduce ourselves and our technology to the world. Manyvisitors and investors came to search for a new opportunity and we were lucky enough to sign few contracts with some of the investors wemet at Dubai Solar Show. In addition, we had an opportunity to meet potential interns and engineers who were interested in working withus. DEWA organizers were extremely helpful in preparing our show and we have already reserved a bigger place for the next show
