At Yeoval Central School we inspire all to be responsible, respectful learners. Working together to achieve and grow.
Western Access Progam - Study Week
For the first time, students in Year 11 had all their study days in one week. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to spend a whole day with their Course Coordinator and peers from the other WAP schools. Students were involved in a range of practical and theory based learning experiences. A busy but rewarding week for all students.

A message from the Principal
At Yeoval Central School we inspire all to be responsible, respectful learners. Working together to achieve and grow.
This week we welcome back Mrs Bates after her knee surgery. I thank Mrs Coddington and Mrs Kerin for taking the Mathematics classes in her absence.
Last Tuesday, our whole staff evaluated our school plan and set priorities for 2019. It was a great afternoon of celebrating the amazing work we do each and every day that supports our 3 strategic directions. The time spent was in-lieu of a school development half day at the end of the year.
Year 11 students participated in a week’s worth of study days with their peers and teachers from the Western Access Program. I thank Mr Andrew Jones, Mrs Kristie Behan, Mrs Helen Johnson and Mrs Helen Tremain for organising, driving and delivering lessons to their classes.
Our transition program continues to provide opportunities for our students. Years 9 and 10 spent Thursday with Mrs Katrina Corinth and Mr Ken Horley at the Orange Jobs Expo. I thank Mrs Katrina Corinth, our Transition Advisor, for organising this for our students.
Mrs Katrina Corinth coordinated for Years 9 and 10 to attend Australia’s Biggest Mental Health Awareness Lesson via videoconference on Friday. This was organised through the Department of Education and they created a WORLD RECORD!
Today we commemorated Remembrance Day with our school community. I thank Mrs Kristie Behan and our student leaders for organising this for YCS.

Year 11 Construction
On Friday 2 November Year 11 Construction travelled to Tullamore for a Concreting Assessment. Brian, Taylah and Tim worked hard to mix and pour a small concrete slab for a storage cage adjacent to the GA's shed and were guided and assisted by Mr Nabb and the three GA's from Tullamore.
Thanks must be extended to Mr Nabb, Co-ordinating teacher and the General Assistants from Tullamore for their assistance and preparation of the site. As you can see from the photographs the finish of the slab is professional and our students are to be congratulated for how hard they worked despite the uncomfortable heat on the day.

Orange Jobs Expo
On Thursday 8 November, Year 9 and 10 travelled to Orange for the Orange Jobs Expo. The Expo was held by NSW Training Services and exhibited many industries and companies from the Central West area including MSM Milling, Fletchers, TAFE Western, the Defence Force, Skillset Workforce, Woolworths, Apprenticeships and Traineeship centres to name just a few. Students were able to walk amongst the exhibitors and ask useful questions about the industry, how to seek employment and prepare for work. There was also a station set up on resume writing and how to improve your current resume. Many of our students utilised this service.
NSW Training Services had a competition in place for all attendees on the day. Students were given a Monopoly board of all the stalls at the expo. The challenge required students to visit each stall and speak with each industry expert. If they did this they were given a sticker to place on their Monopoly board. Once the board was full, it was handed in and placed in the draw to win a tool box. I am pleased to report that one of our students was announced the winner and will be the proud new owner of a flash new tool box! Training Services will visit this week to present the prize. Until then, I will keep the winner a secret!
Students enjoyed a free BBQ lunch and then a snack at McDonalds before heading back to school. All in all, it was an exceptional day and I am sure each of our students gained a lot from the experience. Thank you to Trevor for driving us and to Mr Horley for his assistance on the day.
