PREACHER B’S BE-ATTITUDES
Thank you to Roger Queen and The American Quartet for a
great concert this past Sunday night. Thank you also to all who
came. We had a great Sunday evening crowd!
The second of our Sunday evening concerts will be this Sunday
night, July 29, at 6:00 in the LEC Gym and will feature the
Skylanders. This is Steve Garrison’s group. Like The Ameri-
can Quartet, the Skylanders have been at Florence previously,
and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We hope you will come and
will help us spread the word about these Sunday evening con-
certs.
This Sunday morning we will finish up our July Summer
Preaching Series on “The Riches of Ruth.” We will be in
Chapter 4, and our focus will be on our “Great Redeemer.” We
have had fun with this wonderful Old Testament love story.
Our hope is that you have enjoyed looking at this little book
and that you will gather with us this Sunday as we conclude our
summer preaching series.
As we conclude, we also start back! Next Wednesday, August
1, we resume Prayer Meeting and Adult Choir Rehearsal. Pray-
er Meeting will be in the LEC Dining Room for two weeks,
August 1 and August 8. On August 15, we will resume our
Wednesday Fellowship Suppers, so Prayer Meeting will be
around the tables in the LEC Gym. Again, Prayer Meeting re-
sumes next week, August 1! Please mark your calendars and
plan to join us!
We also want to invite you to help us with something else.
Whenever a church member dies, or there is a death, and the
family gathers in the home of a Florence member, Florence
provides a meal for the family. We usually provide the Noon
meal the day of the funeral.
Ashlee Kallay is in charge of these meals, and she prepares the
meats (usually ham and chicken) on behalf of the church. We
have seven food groups that provide the salads, vegetables, des-
serts, etc. We have seven group leaders, and each group has 10
to 15 people. We use one, usually not more than two groups,
per bereavement meal. We are always looking to recruit new
members for these groups.
So will you commit to being on a group? This means you will
commit to providing a dish of food at the time of a death within
the Florence family. With seven groups, you probably will not
be called more than twice a year. You will be assigned to a
group and notified as to the name of your group captain. Usual-
ly you can drop off your dish on your way to work or school in
the mornings.
Please call the Church Office today and speak to Teresa Skin-
ner (245-5411) and make this commitment, or call Ashlee Kal-
lay and let her know you are willing to serve. (828-980-4776)
Providing these meals at the time of a death within the church
family is such an important ministry for Florence. We would
love for you to be part of this ministry. Please give us a call
today!

We would like to thank everyone who provided support for
our family during this time of loss. Your cards, visits, meals,
and especially prayers have meant so much. As we adjust to
life without his physical presence, we take comfort in know-
ing his spiritual presence is looking down with love on us
and you, his church family. Our hearts are filled with grati-
tude.
Jacola, Phil, Lisa, Jeremy and Dustin Ray
Thank you so much for all the kindness you showed our fam-
ily during our recent loss of our Mom.
She loved Florence Church and always spoke so kindly of
her friends there.

Thank you to all who prepared and brought food to me while
I was dealing with a broken arm. Your many acts of kind-
