MISSION TRIP TO AUTLAN, MEXICO: Even as I write this article we are prepar- ing to leave for our out- reach trip to Autlan. When you read this we will most likely be there (July 13-21). Thirteen people from our church will be working hard in the hot weather, helping the ministries that are already expanding in this poverty-stricken city. Here are some of the things we will be doing: Building a roof, meeting with youth, playing games with children at the mi- grant camps, jail ministry, alcohol recovery meetings, visitation evangelism, supporting missionaries, and much more. Please keep us in your prayers and pray for at least 10 people to come to Christ during our visit. (And a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated a hygiene kit we received 145 kits!). CAMP TAPAWINGO: This summer we are sending over 30 kids to camp from our church, plus 2 staff members (Bobby and An- nie) and many youth and adults as leaders. Wow! I am very impressed. And a million thanks to everyone at church since it is from the church budget that we give these kids scholarships every year. Keep them all in your prayers and re- member that our goal in this endeavor is to see as many kids as possible be challenged in their rela- tionship with Christ which will be their lifelong strength. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Coming up very shortly (July 22-26) VBS will be kicking off for 5 evenings of fun in the sun… BEACH BASH! Lots of fun for eve- ryone. But again, remem- ber, it’s fun with a purpose: That kids will be exposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you know a neighbor who you could invite? Do you have a rela- tive who would be good to bring along? Have you signed up your own kids yet? Let’s all get behind Director Annie and help to make this year’s VBS outreach a super positive and welcoming event. As people get to know our church more and more, they will be that much more likely to come again on a Sunday morning. ALL CHURCH PICNIC: I wonder if there is someone in your life that you are praying for this summer that needs the love of Jesus Christ? A family member, a friend, a co- worker. Why not invite them to church on Sunday, August 25th? We’ll have lots of food, tons of fellow- ship and games for every- one of all ages. Our annual picnic is a perfect time for an encouraging day of worship and friendship. SUMMER OUTREACH IS HAPPENING AT WEST HILLS! Let’s everyone be a part. Pastor Marcus

SUMMER ACTIVITIES ARE MORE THAN JUST FUN IN THE SUN. This summer West Hills is involved in some great summertime events that are founded on our desire to see more and more people draw close to God in their lives.

MISSION TRIP TO AUTLAN, MEXICO: Even as I write this article we are prepar-ing to leave for our out-reach trip to Autlan. When you read this we will most likely be there (July 13-21). Thirteen people from our church will be working hard in the hot weather, helping the ministries that are already expanding in this poverty-stricken city. Men’s Ministries...

Men's Breakfast & Target Shoot on May 18 was an-other great time of fellowship & fun. The next quarterly breakfast is September 14, which includes our 5th Annual Car Show. Mark your calendars!

How many times have we men, as individuals, fallen short in our commitments to

God, our wives, our families, our church, our community and our nation. All of us have, too frequently. All men need accountability. When we know that others are sup-porting, encouraging, and praying for us, it helps us walk faithfully before God. No man is meant to do this on his own. As members of the body of Christ, we are

given different gifts and in-sights to help us grow and sharpen one another. This is why it's so important for men of all ages to form Resolution Groups. If you've been con-sidering this Bible study, we will start another Group beginning in September. Contact Herb Shaw for more details.

Church Picnic…

Don’t miss our annual All-Church Picnic! Sunday, August 25 after church (no Sunday School). Great food and fun for all ages. Watch for details in the August bulletins and on our website.

Worship Pastor…

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:1-2)

It's choir time again, and this summer will bring our next choir project. If you have

ever considered singing with us in worship, this is the per-fect opportunity. We will sing in church on Sunday, August 11 with an outreach to the residents at Gibson Creek at 1:00 that afternoon. Here's how it works: Pastor Greg will prepare some scores and rehearsal re-cordings that you can use to

learn the songs (just 2 choir and a few congregational songs). We will meet to rehearse after church on August 5, and we will meet again in rehearsal on Thurs-day, Aug. 8 at 7:00. If you are interested or have any ques-tions, please contact Pastor Greg in the church office.

Facilities Commission...

God has graced West Hills Community Church with lov-ing people who not only love God but each other. With that love, they reach out to serve God and to help each other with their service to God and the church. As the new leader of the facilities commission I truly feel blessed to have so many men who are ready, willing and able to keep our church look-ing great and everything operating properly. Since I live so far from the church

Dave Russell has agreed to be my ‘go to’ person for minor daily problems. If you see anything that needs to be repaired please let Dave or myself know and we will get it scheduled to be fixed.

As Ron McNinch noted in last month’s newsletter, we have a number of projects sched-uled for this summer and have most scheduled. How-ever, if anyone knows of repairs needed please bring it to our attention, particularly

those in the classrooms. They can then be repaired while the kids are on summer vacation.

We pray that God will be with Ron, give him strength, wisdom and guidance as he serves as an Elder in our church. I pray that God is with Pastor Marcus and the rest of our pastoral staff, may He give them strength, wisdom as guidance as well.

May God Bless All, Larry Rowat

Our annual rummage sale is a great community outreach as well as provides funds for various West Hills ministries. Please consider lending a hand; there are several opportunities to help.

Drop off clean, reusable sale items at church:

Saturday, July 27, 10am-2pm

Sunday, July 28, 12—2pm

Monday, July 29, 9am - 7pm

Tuesday, July 30, 9am - 7pm

Volunteers for set up are needed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of sale week... any hours you can give between 9:00 a.m.—7:00 p.m. Most of the work is sorting and organizing items to display. We can find a job for everyone!

We also need help unloading two storage units Monday of sale week. Anyone with a truck, trailer, van, etc. would be much appreciated. We also need some young people

to help load and unload.

Helpers are needed on August 1, 2 & 3rd for the actual sale.... hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Again help when you can and leave when you must.

This year our proceeds will be used to support to the following ministries: Youth Group (10%), Awana Club (10%), building expansion fund (80%).

Missional Awareness Commission...

AUTLAN MISSION TEAM: Our 2013 mission team will be heading to Autlan July 13-21. The final fundraiser was the Fun Run on June 22 with 80 participants and a net of $800. THANK YOU to every-one who contributed in many ways toward reaching the realized goal to send our team to partner alongside our Autlan missionaries.

KARISSA CLARK HAUMANN: West Hills helps support Karissa, who is a Wycliffe missionary to Cameroon. Karissa gave a wonderful

presentation Sunday, June 23. She specializes in biblical literacy, helping create prim-ers designed to help people learn to read the Bible in their own language. Karissa and her new husband Oliver are living in Germany this year as he completes his training in intercultural stud-ies, and she works online. Next year they are anxious to return to Cameroon where Oliver will continue as a physical therapist, and Karissa will continue her work in biblical literacy.

ALICE DECKER: Alice Decker is going on a short-term mis-sion to Taiwan August 8-26 through Campus Crusade for Christ. She will be involved in a powerful teaching, chal-lenging teachers to live a life free of drugs, alcohol, sex outside of marriage and to live a life of morals and ethics. Please pray for safety, health and that the Holy Spirit will touch the teachers and subsequently their students who have never heard the message of Christ.

W.O.W. Women Of West Hills…

The ladies attending the Baby Shower for baby Keenan Alioth on June 9th had the privilege of cuddling and coo-ing with him. Mommy Larissa had many watchful grandmas so she could enjoy the eve-ning and open gifts. What a little charmer that young man is. On Saturday June 15th several ladies joined Cheryl

Rosecrans at the Simonka Place to have a “Planting Party” and decorate flower pots, then fill them with dirt and seeds. We pray these seeds will grow into healthy plants for the ladies that they can nurture. The ladies at Simonka Place are thrilled when we come to visit them and share testimonies. Soon

Simonka Place will start con-struction on a 32 bed addi-tion. More ladies to love on.

Please be in thought and prayer for the ladies Bible Study Childcare person, start-ing in September.

Ladies: Come along with us as we study the extraordinary Old Testament book of Daniel. The stories of the fiery furnace and the lions’ den are familiar, but how did Daniel and his three friends possess such a fearless faith? God has left us the witness of this man of God so that we might possess a faith that never wavers, defying the storms of change that rage about us.

Tuesday mornings 9:30-11:00 ● September 24-December 10 ● Leader: Lucille Alley Childcare available! Sign up at the women’s table beginning in early August.
