• eRA system-wide release postponed to Nov. 9-10 to allow more testing.  Retirement of Training Activities (TA) module will be postponed until new release, but will not be available after Wednesday, November 9, 2011.

• You and your GMS have two more weeks to process remaining paper appointments and termination notices (in other words, correct rosters for missing data from previously filed paper forms).

• Expidite the processing to avoid a last-minute rush. Check your Trainee roster and address any inconsistencies before the deadline.

NIH Continuing Resolution• NIH Funded at FY 2011 level minus 1.5 percent.

– NIH will issue non-competing research grant awards at a level below that indicated on the most recent Notice of Award (generally up to 90% of the previously committed level).

– Upward adjustments to awarded levels will be considered after FY 2012 appropriations are enacted but NIH expects institutions to monitor their expenditures carefully during this period.

1) Benefits Open Enrollment – key information:

a) Open enrollment dates: October 1 – October 31

b) With the exception of flexible spending accounts, all of your current benefit selections will remain unchanged in 2012 unless you go online and make a change.

c) The presentations are now available in English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.

d) For new hires that are eligible for benefits in October (or starting in November), don’t forget that they need to enroll twice – once for the rest of this FY and then also for next FY.

2) Research Outreach Project update – Out of our five main recommendations and initiatives, we have great traction with two in particular:

a) Research ranked and Post doc compensation review – Brendan Good is our new intern that will be assisting with data collection and review, project kick off meeting is Monday, October 24.

b) New Employee Orientation review – Kirsten Wall is pulling together focus groups consisting of administrators, faculty, staff members and research ranked employees and will partner with others across OHSU to start the design phase.
