Our Expectations

•  In Year 3 we expect the children to become a lot more independent in all aspects of their school life.

•  We expect them to adhere to the behaviour policy in all areas. •  We expect them to arrive prepared to work and well rested. •  We expect them to be responsible for their own actions and to understand

the consequences. •  Most important of all, we think that the children should enjoy coming to

school.

Reading Stamps

•  1 stamp per day that it is signed for by an adult that has read with the child.

•  The date needs to be written either in the date box provided or by the

signature to make it eligible for a stamp. This makes it clear when they have read.

•  A total of 30 stamps are needed this half a term to be able to get a dip in

the treat box before half term. •  That’s reading 5 times per week.

Reading at Home

•  Reading DOES NOT have to be a massive task •  We ask that you read with your child on a daily basis making sure

to question them about the story. This shows us whether they have understood what they have read or not.

•  Once your child has finished the book, ask them to tell you about it without looking back through.

•  When a book is finished it is your child's responsibility to make sure that it is put into the changing box.

Break and Lunchtime

•  In KS2 the children now have to provide their own snack for the morning break.

•  The lunchtime changes per week to allow all of KS2 the opportunity to be first into the hall.

•  All children need to provide their own water bottle for the classroom.

P.E.

•  We recommend that your child leaves their P.E. kit in school every day and take them home to be washed at the weekend.

•  Girls or boys with earrings either need to have them removed at home on the days where P.E. is carried out or they need to be able to remove them on their own before the lesson.

Homework

•  Homework is sent home on a Friday •  There is a homework book which will have work stuck into it to be

completed. This needs to be handed in by Wednesday to make sure it is marked before the next lot of homework is stuck in.

•  There is also a spelling and times tables book which stays with your child to allow them to practice their spellings up until their test on Friday. This book needs to stay in the reading folder so that new spellings can be glued in on a Friday.

Topic

•  Our first topic is Ancient Egypt where we will learn about how the civilisation began and ended.

•  During the spring term we will be learning about the stone age, going right back to the early settlers of the U.K.

•  In the summer term we will be working on extreme Earth where we will look into volcanoes.
