Welcome to Week 5! (May 4-8th) We continue to focus on Poetry for the month of May! Poetry is a fun and creative way to practice our creative writing skills. It's also a wonderful way to express emotions and create vivid imagery using Figurative Language. This month you will be creating your very own Poetry Book filled with a collection of poems from an AMAZING writer, YOU! Our main writing focus will be Poetry this month, but you should still have a novel that you can read every day. Remember, you should be reading every day. At least 20 minutes is a good place to start. We will also be focusing on Figurative Language this month. This week we will be looking at alliteration and personification . These two types of Figurative Language are very important and used a lot in writing poetry. When you create your poems this week, try hard to use alliteration and personification in your work. We will be looking at the Cordillera region in Social Studies and there is a beautiful Cordillera Line Art project you can try! As always, your teachers are a call, message or Edmodo away. You can contact us for assistance any time during office hours from 10:30-3:00 and on Friday, 10:30-11:30. (Or if you just want to check in and chat!)

can try!

PERSONIFICATION

Personification is giving human qualities (actions, feelings,

thoughts) to nonhuman objects

The leaves danced in the wind.

The toys dreaded playtime at

the daycare.

The sun happily greeted

everyone each morning.

The angry cloud moved closer.

The stars in the night sky winked at me.

The tree whispered as the fog rolled in.

The earth has swallowed my hope.

The tree was lurking in the

shadows.
