It is our sincere desire that you feel welcome here, whether you are white collar or blue collar, sinner or saint, Hawkeye or Cyclone fan, senior citizen or crying infant, BMW driver or Harley rider. We wish to find a place for everyone and to grow stronger as a diverse faith community. A few things you should know as you worship with us:
We have a nursery available during the Modern Worship service for children ages 0-3 down the hall across from the restrooms by south entrance.
Restrooms are available down the hall from the main lobby; they are the last two doors on the left-hand side, near the water fountain.

Missions Committee is collecting Health Kits & Flood Bucket. Place the donated supplies in the tubs at the Friendship Center. The list of supplies needed are at the Friendship Center.
All of the Committee Chairpersons need to have their budget numbers for 2018 into church office by September 8th.
Mission Trip: We have a group of 34 that will be traveling to the Salt Marsh area of Jamaica on Nov. 11 – 17, 2017. If you are interested in knowing more, please contact me! Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University Class begins September 10th @ 6:00 PM, for 9 weeks, here at the Sheldon United Methodist Church. Cost of materials is $25.00 per single/couple participants. Registration forms are on the Friendship Center. Place completed forms in the box on Friendship Center by September 3. Any questions contact the church office.
Labor Day Celebration: Time again for the UMM Labor Day Funnel Cake and Corn Dog stand. Please sign up at the Friendship Center to volunteer to work the booth. Please remember that the money made helps pay for children to go to camp. Prayerfully consider to volunteer. Help is needed to set up the tent this afternoon, at 3:00 pm.
Please join us on Saturday, September 16th at the Sheldon High School Track and Field for the NWIA Suicide Awareness Walk/Run called, "Breaking the Silence". This event is being held to bring awareness along with hope and healing to those who have lost loved ones to suicide. Registrations will begin that day at 4:00 pm and the event will begin at 4:30 pm. There will be a Memory/Tribute Wall at the event so you are welcome to bring along a photo of your loved one to be included. A closing ceremony will follow the event with speakers and a memorial helium balloon launch. Pre-registration is $25 which includes an event t-shirt. Cost the day of is $30. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Seasons Center for Behavioral Health. In case of inclement weather, please listen to KIWA for event changes.
Third Grade Bibles: We will be handing out Bibles to all the third grade students on Sunday, September 10th. We would like to do this as a part of our Worship services at 8:30 am and 11:00 am. Please contact the church office and let us know which service you will be attending on that day.
New Adult Sunday School Class, beginning Sept. 10, Sherri Morgan and Judy Winkel will begin a 12-week Sunday School class that will look at Christianity and World Religions based on an Adam Hamilton series. The study urges us as Christians to build bridges with others so that we might grow in our faith, seek peace in our world, love our neighbor, and find positive ways to share the gospel. The cost of the student book is $7.50. We meet in the church library. Everyone is welcome.
Adult Sunday School Class: What happens when you die? Is there an afterlife? Does the Bible say anything specific about heaven? Are there really streets of gold? Pearly gates? Has anyone ever returned with inside information? What we think abut heaven helps us determine how we live today. Sam Peterson’s class which meets in the chapel will be searching for the answers from Dr. David Jeremiah’s book and video, “Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven” We will be starting on September 17th. Everyone is welcome.
Kadens Kloset Helping Houston: Kadens Traveling Kloset is headed to Houston on September 16th. Our church will be a drop off point for Donations, which need to be here by September 7th. Please mark all donations for Texas. Monetary donations can be made directly to Kadens Kloset . Here are some of the needed supplies. Diapers, Wipes, Formula, Baby cereal, baby food, toiletries, hygiene items, New socks and underwear, Rubber totes of various sizes. Non perishable food,. The need is great. Please help in any way possible.
