NYSunworks and Manhattan School for Children are excited to share this unique space with you as you learn about waste, water and energy.

Course Teacher

Shakira Provasoli (Castronovo) I have been teaching elementary

education since 1999, both in Westchester and New York City. I received my Masters in Education from Sarah Lawrence College.

This is my fourth year teaching environmental science at Manhattan School for Children.

I am certified in STEM education by Teachers College, through a fellowship I received from NASA.

organization that builds innovative science labs in

urban schools. Through our Greenhouse Project initiative we use hydroponic farming

technology to educate students and teachers about the science of sustainability.

NY Sun Works envisions a generation of environmental innovators, empowered to create solutions to global

resource challenges.
