A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ACADEMY...
In 1996, The Academy moved into the old Mapleton High School building at 64th and Washington Street, which had stood vacant for eight years. Parent volunteers helped clean the building to get it ready for the first day of school.
WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL?
We provide wonderful educational opportunities for our students:
•Art •Music •Physical Education •Computers •Science •Literacy Blocks (that are above & beyond)
WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL? High Expectat ions We do have high standards for all! The students work hard here at school and have
regular homework as well. On averages our classes are about 1 to 1.5 years
above grade level, so is some of our curriculum. We have structured classrooms where the students
are expected to behave and not interrupt the learning for anyone else in the classroom.
WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL? Our students reach amazing academic
achievements! •Our students regularly end the year one or more years above grade level in reading and math
•Our older students outscore the neighboring school district as well as the state averages on standardized tests.
WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL?
We place a large emphasis on Character Education via:
•Random Acts of Kindness •Social Skills Curriculum •Love and Logic •Pride Paws •Pride Club
