Clubs & Activities…

Ü Clubs meet before school (students take HS morning bus) or after school (4:15 bus).

Ü Club list comes out in the Fall and is available on our website.

Ü This year our clubs & activities included: Chess, Field Hockey, Cheerleading, ITeam, Yearbook, Lego Challenge, Painting & Drawing, Go Green Recycling, Guitar, Intramurals, Math, Newspaper, Student Council, Jazz Band, Knitting, Destination Imagination, Drama, Spelling Bee, Scenery & Safe Kids.

Ü Encourage your children to get involved! Clubs are a great way to make friends, gain valuable organization and planning skills, and make a difference.

Odds & Ends…Ü No locker’s to open. 5th graders get cubbies in the classroom.

Ü 5th graders sit in the front of the bus closest to the 6th grade.

Ü If you are going to drive your child to school please have them present by 7:45.

Ü Breakfast is offered before school beginning at 7:35 until the first bell at 7:50.

Ü Every 5th grader has a skills period. Some students will utilize this period for AIS, Math/ELA Lab, Speech and Counseling Services and/or Resource Room.

Ü All 5th graders participate in Lunch Bunch. During lunch bunch small groups of 5th

graders have a pizza lunch with our guidance counselor. Lunch Bunch is made possible through a grant funded by Putnam Valley Education Foundation.

Ü 5th graders get numerical grades on their report cards. There are 4 quarters in a school year. Your child will receive a report card and an interim report every quarter. Interim reports will be available at the half-way mark of the quarter.

Ü Student placement will be available the last week of August.

Ü Phones are kept in student’s lockers. Students always have access to a phone in the main office.

Ü Monitor, Monitor, Monitor…ALL social media and screen time.

Ü Set limits and boundaries. Create a family contract/family agreement.

Ü Mobile phones, tablets and computers can all be configured with parental controls. Whether your goal is to block certain content, set time parameters or just be mindful of usage, a variety of apps and programs are available.
