Experience FAMU:

In Spring 2017, The Division of Student Affairs created the FAMU Immersive Initiative as a way to explore the use of 360-degree Photography and Virtual Reality technology in its student engagement efforts. The initiative, which was first piloted by the School of Business & Industry was introduced to the FAMU Board of Trustees during their June Meeting (2017). The Division is using the Summer term to pilot several 360-degree/VR Experiences. Please take a look around and #ExperienceFAMU like never before.

Experience Standing outside of FAMU Lee Hall

Lee Hall was built on the highest hill in Tallahassee, Florida in 1928. A $4.3 million remodeling job on the facility was completed in time for a rededication ceremony in April, 1993. Its picturesque location at the center of the Florida A&M University campus is enhanced with fountains gracing the entrance to the building. This landmark houses the office of the University President and others, and its 1190 seat, completely redesigned auditorium.

Al Lawson Multipurpose Center (Teaching Gym) 1800 Wahnish Way Tallahassee, Florida 32307 Experience Standing inside the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center

The Lawson Center is primarily an educational facility. It is the home of the FAMU College of Education's Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. The Center hosts FAMU Convocations and Commencement Exercises. It is also the home of the Rattler Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams and the Volleyball home games. The main arena area features bleacher seating for 8470 people, a video scoreboard, and a first-class arena sound system.

In 1971, the Florida Legislature mandated the creation of a repository to “serve the state by collecting and preserving source material on and about African Americans from ancient to present times.” This mandate gave birth to what would later become the Black Archives Research Center and Museum. The center was founded in 1976 by Florida A&M University history professor, Dr. James N. Eaton. It officially opened in historic Carnegie Library on FAMU’s campus.

FAMU Village is a state-of-the-art, two person suite-style facility that was constructed in 2014. The facility consists of six floors with approximately 30 suites on each floor and features two computer labs, two multi-purpose rooms, a game day lounge (with three 80” televisions), and lobbies with televisions. Also, all floors are equipped with a conference room.
