Blessing of the Easter Food One of the many parish traditions at Holy Spirit parish is the Bless-ing of the Easter food on Holy Saturday. Come join Msgr. Peter for the blessing on Holy Saturday, April 20, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel. Bring your baskets filled with your Easter meal ingredients and take part in this wonderful parish tradition.

Visitation of the Tomb

Good Friday begins the vigil at symbolic tombs of Christ built at churches throughout the world and lasts until Holy Saturday. Adoration of the Good Friday tombs is called “the visitation of the tombs.” The observation of a period of silence at home for devotional reading and private prayer between the hours of noon and 3:00 p.m. is often practiced. The opportunity to vis-it, privately reflect, and pray at The Tomb of Christ will be available on Friday, April 19 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 20, from 6:30 a.m. -

6:00 p.m., in the old chapel (Rm. 1). All are welcome to come and pray in silence. Fresh cut and/or potted flowers are also welcomed for the tomb.

Parish Office hours during Holy Week: The parish office will be closed Good Friday, April 19 and Easter Monday, April 22. Bingo Schedule: No Bingo on Good Friday, April 19. Reconciliation Schedule during Holy Week: There will be no Sacrament of Reconciliation on Holy Saturday, April 20, or Easter Sunday, April 22. Recon-ciliation schedule will resume April 27 (3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.) and April 28 (3:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.). Do you have a change of address, phone, or email? Increase in scam emails & texts

Our parish office has been informed by the Diocese that there has been an increase in scams targeting clergy names by sending email correspondences (or other forms of social media) to contact parishioners. These emails which appear legitimate are often signed with the pastor’s name such as “Fr. Peter” for example and request money or gift cards. If you receive such an email request please be aware that it is a scam.

Attention Youth: Age 8-15 What are you doing this summer? If you are age 8-15 you can spend a week at St. Joseph’s

Youth Camp for FREE. The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a number of youth for a week of fun filled activities including: horse back riding, kayaking, archery, arts & crafts, mountain biking, and more. How can you be one of the lucky ones to go? It’s easy! Just submit a short essay answering this question:

Why I want to go to camp. Be sure to include your name, age, and phone number. For questions about the essay contest or St. Joseph’s Youth Camp, please contact Bill Price at (480) 838-3479. Maximum length of essay is 250 words; the number of youth sponsored is dependent on funds raised from sales of Arizona State Knights of Columbus raffle tickets. “Complete My Joy” is an Apostolic Exhortation written by Bishop Olmsted for Catholics of the Diocese of Phoenix. In it, he urges husbands and wives, mothers and fathers to live the joy of a deeper relationship with Christ personally and in their homes.

We hope that you will read “Complete My Joy” prayerfully and slowly, and with a listening heart. In this way, you can receive what the Lord has for you, fitting for your own journey and your family’s journey. Many of you have yet to hear family life presented as a beautiful, noble and joy-filled life that can certainly be lived with God’s grace. Others of you give thought regularly to your family’s mission, and are looking for a challenge; we trust you will find it. To purchase or download Bishop Olmsted’s Apostolic Exhortation visit: family.dphx.org

As a parish, we strive to be good stewards of our resources. Many families have moved away from envelopes and are now using Faith Direct to ful-fill their generous steward-ship commitments to our parish and the wider church through electronic donations. We have also found that many are not using their en-velopes that we mail out. Help us to reduce our enve-lope and postage expense and at the same time sup-port Church of the Holy Spirit in a secure and con-venient way by enrolling with Faith Direct. Please enroll in this program by picking up an enrollment form from the church office, narthex brochure hold-ers, or by visiting faith.direct/AZ535 to enroll securely on line. May God bless your stewardship to our par-ish community!
