Classroom Etiquette

• Come to class with a Pencil, on time• Use and take care of materials correctly – remember

you are sharing workspace• Use appropriate critical language when discussing

artwork• Artwork stays in the art room until the end of the

semester• No peace signs, hearts, smiley faces, MAC symbols, etc. • No food or Drink near artwork and workspaces• No cell phones or other audio devices

4. Late Policy

• If you arrive late to a class without a pass, it will be noted.

• When late arrival becomes a habit, points will be deducted from your daily participation grade.

5. DetentionsDetentions are served at LUNCH

It is rare that detentions are assigned; when they are you will bring your lunch to the art room and then

organize/clean art storage & workspace spaces until the end of the period.

Brushes must pass the pinch testBrushes get put back bristles up and barrel down

Brushes get washed 3 times or until they are clean.

You will make a sketchbook soon; you DO NOT need to buy a sketchbook!

This will be a storage place for all of your art 8 sketches

Passing Art 8

• For the first time in art at VCS you will receive a number grade for assignments and you Q1, Q2 and F1 terms.

• Artwork will not be graded based on skill or lack of skill!

Instead you will be graded on:

• Process &Participation (40%)– Using time wisely– Turning the assignment in on time– Cleanup responsibilities

• You will receive a participation grade based on a 10 point scale every day that you have art 8!

• Product (40%)– Fulfilling assignment objectives– Following process steps demonstrated in class– Handouts and sketches

• Tests, Quizzes and Homework (20%)

Rubrics

• All projects will be graded using a rubric. • Students will see all rubrics prior to an turning

in the artwork in order to know how to achieve the highest grade possible.

• All rubrics use the same basic criteria with some extras thrown in depending on the assignment tasks

Answer b:The choice of colors were most successful because the light color in the foreground contrast the dark colors in the background.

Deadlines• All artwork will be photographed on the day that

it is due– Artwork will be posted online so be ready!

• Late work– Late work will be accepted however this is not without

repercussions• Artwork will loose 2 points every day that it is not turned in

(this might be waived if you have special circumstances)• Artwork that is not received within 2 weeks of the deadline

should still be turned in, but will earn no more than a 65%• All artwork must be turned in before the 10 week mark

– ZEROS STAY ZERO once the marking period has closed

Making up Absences

• If are you scheduled to be somewhere else during art 8, come to class first.

• Students that do not check in first, will be marked absent!!

• When you return, see me AFTER we start work time!!
