Student Interactive Notebooks - record dailyObjective(s): I get to show what I know about writing a timed paragraph as a non-graded pre-test.Purpose: To show what I can do independently in my writing.Success Criteria: Completed paragraph for later review and notecard turned in.Supplies: TODAY: laptop, pen/pencil, DAILY: pen/pencil, charged laptop/cord, ISN, 3-Ring Binder, highlighters (pink orange yellow green blue purple) glue/tape for ISNHomework: Set up ISN and bring all materials starting next class
Agenda for today
● Teacher introduction/ Student intro● Sign in to Chrome - set up English folder in
Google Drive● Before the paragraph, introduce the
Teacher/Student index card with get to know you questions; complete after assessment or as HW if needed
● Pick up your movement device● HW: Set up ISN- directions in Google Classroom

● Everyone starts on the bus (between the lines)● When given a choice, you have to get off the
bus- pick a side● We will re-load and ask another question
Who is Mrs. Thorson?
● Teacher of LA for 15 years in Wisconsin

○ Teach CPR & First Aid for LIFETIME since 1997
● From Wisconsin / lived in Minnesota as an adult
● Why here now??
○ My husband is coaching basketball at CSU
● Family: Husband, Dave
○ daughter Ella Ray in 6th grader here
○ Dog, Moby (5 months)
Google Drive Google Classroom
1. Sign in to your Google Drive and create a new folder for English 8th grade
2. Next go to Google Classroom so you can access our class page
Daily procedures
● ISN (Interactive Student Notebooks)
● Concerns then celebrations to start our day
● Sign out / passes
● Technology on desk and off until instructed to use (phones in bin)
● Where to hand in assignments (Google Classroom next)
● Absences- how to get missed work and make-up
● Fuzzy sticks & Clay!
● 2 minute interviews - know at least one thing about each person
in class- you will introduce someone at random
Classroom Expectations (6 P’s)
