Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am September 5th, 2016
My dear Parishioners,
This Labor Day weekend I want to call your attention to the
annual Labor Day Statement of the U.S. Conference of
Catholic Bishops authored by the chairman of the Commit-
tee on Domestic Justice and Human Development, Arch-
bishop Thomas G. Wenski of Miami. In it, he addresses
what he calls the “twin crises — deep trials in both the
world of work and the state of the family,” and offers a word
of hope and trust in God to all who are affected by this twin
crisis. While we ourselves may not be directly or severely
affected, far too many others are, and it is important for us to
be aware of their situation and to lend our efforts to assist
them.
Archbishop Wenski reminds us that there are “millions of
families still living in poverty, unable to work their way
out.” Let me further quote the Archbishop directly on this:
“Economic and political forces have led to increasingly low-
er economic prospects for Americans without access to
higher education, which is having a direct impact on family
health and stability. For example, over half of parents be-
tween the ages of 26 and 31 now have children outside of
marriage, and research shows a major factor is the lack of
middle-skill jobs—careers by which someone can sustain a
family above the poverty line without a college degree—in
regions with high income inequality. Divorce rates and the
rate of single-parent households breaks down along similar
educational and economic lines. Financial concerns and
breakdowns in family life can lead to a sense of hopeless-
ness and despair.”
Atlanta appears to be a prosperous city, but there are far too
many pockets of poverty throughout the whole metropolitan
area. Who are our neighbors in need here? Do we know
any families who fit into the picture sketched by Archbishop
Wenski? How do we help them? By showing solidarity with
them and serving as their advocates. We will have more to
say on this as November 8th draws near. Stay tuned.

23º DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO
Cuidados intensivos, etc., etc.
Pues aún debemos amar más a Jesús.
3. Debemos apreciar a nuestros bienes materiales. Debemos
