Athletic Philosophy and Goals of Port WashingtonOur goals are simple - to provide a positive athletic experience for our student-athletes, coaches and fans! It is our hope that, now and always, our student-athletes are proud to be a Port Washington Pirate. The goals of the Port Washington Activities Department are set on developing a high level of competition through the development of a program that is comprehensive and supports the educational values such as sportsmanship, health, scholastic attainment, leadership and a strong sense of respect for self and others.
Port Washington has a long tradition of interscholastic participation, and we would like to welcome you to our facility and thank you for supporting students participating in athletics. The athletes truly appreciate your encouragement and support.
The Pirates have established themselves within our conference as teams that bring both spirit and athleticism to athletics. Our proud tradition is supported by a strong belief that the total experience of students at Port Washington is enhanced by their participation in athletics and activities.
Port Washington Pirates – A Class ActWhat exactly is class? It’s one of those valuable, intangible, personal traits that’s in high demand because it’s so rare. Class is being a good person, showing good sportsmanship, always taking responsibility for your actions, and being considerate to others. You have class if you show pride, have humility, and display self-confidence without being arrogant.
Class athletes and fans handle victory and defeat in the same way – graciously, with their heads held high. They don’t brag in victory or make excuses in defeat. They always praise their opponent for a job well done, and they admit their mistakes.
Class always shows, whether you win or lose. People can tell instantly if you have class by watching your actions. If you have class, you don’t need much of anything else to be a winner. If you don’t have it, whatever else you have won’t make up the difference. The Port Washington Pirates; athletes, students, parents, and fans have a history of being a “class act”! Please help keep that tradition alive.

CHEER SONGCheer, cheer, for the good old Port High,
Bring on the victory,
Heck with the tie,
Raise that ball on high,
Pull down the passes from the sky,
Tho’ her foes be great or small,
Good old Port High will smother them all,
While her gallant squad goes marching,
Onward to victory!
Booster Club
What is the PWHS Booster Club? The Athletic Booster Club is a service organization comprised of parents whose mission is to support and promote all athletic programs at
Port Washington High School and recognize the efforts and accomplishments of our student athletes. How can you get involved?
Simply fill out the green membership form and return it with your payment. We offer a lifetime membership for $75.00. (The lifetime membership covers your entire immediate family until your youngest child graduates.)
Volunteer throughout the year to help in our concession stands. We sell concessions at ten of the 22 sports offered at the high school. This is a wonderful way to meet new families and become a part of your child’s athletic career while in high school.
Become a parent representative for your child’s team. You would help us assure effective communication between the booster club and the coaches, and the booster club and the team. You would also help recruit other parents on your team to work the concession stands at vari-ous sporting events.
Attend our monthly meetings. We meet the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the multi-purpose room at the high school. We have several areas for you to assist us in: coordination of volunteers, fundraising, spirit wear, etc.
How does my membership benefit the teams?Your membership fee as well as concession sales at sporting events and monies raised at various fundraisers held throughout the year al-
lows us to contribute to the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, supplies, and apparel. We also sponsor several $500 scholarships each year. Recipients must be active athletic booster club members for at least one year to be eligible.
The BC has awarded $20,000 in scholarships in the last 4 years. 2009-10: $33,405.00 2010-11: $29,022.00 2011-12: $30,302.00 2012-13: $17,392.00
What fundraisers does the Athletic Booster Club Sponsor?Fish Day: We partner with Port Washington-Saukville Rotary Club to help staff their Fish N’ Chips stand in July. The proceeds we receive are directly dependent on the number of volunteer hours we provide, so please consider working a shift.

10. Because taunting, trash talk and intimidating behavior have no place in high school sports-or any level of sports.
9. Your admission is to watch the performances of highly impressionable 15 to 18-year-old kids – not to abuse coaches, officials, players and other spectators.
8. You want others to treat you the way you want to be treated – and how many of us want to be treated with disrespect?
7. We need more positive role models for our kids.
6. People don’t always remember the final score – but they always remember the fan who made a fool out of him or herself.
5. Because coaches and officials are also teachers. Why would you harass them in their classroom.
4. A national survey indicates kids play high school sports to have fun – not to be number one!
3. It’s how you play the game that counts
2. It’s simply the right thing to do.
