Welcome NAUW Sisters to 2017- 2018!
Welcome back to an exciting year! I hope you are ready to work on the committee or
committees you chose to make your Branch program activities the best ever.
The National Theme, “Progressive Women Remaining Relevant in a Global Society”, serves as
the linchpin for our Branch operations. The calendar for 2017-2018 is being developed which
will be posted on the web and communicated via Branch News quarterly. To ensure that the
legacy of the Southwest Section lives on, all offices and committee chairs are asked to serve as a
Mentor to someone who expresses a desire to serve or who demonstrates the qualities to be a
leader.
As a member of the Southwest Section, it is important for us to utilize the wonderful talents that
we have in our Branches as trend setters and leaders. We are committed to the ideal of NAUW
as demonstrated by our participation in making our communities better for others.
Dr. Essie French-Preston, Sectional Director
Greetings to all of my NAUW Sisters
The proposed ByLaws’ changes will be up for vote at the 2018 SW Sectional Conference. All
members shall receive a copy of the ByLaws and proposed changes by November 1, 2017. This
year promises to be a very exciting time for NAUW Southwest Section: the annual Sectional
Conference, February 2-3, 2018; and, the bi-annual National Convention, August 1-5, 2018. I
look forward to seeing each of you at the upcoming events.
Sisterly,
Clara Frost, Lay Member
It is my pleasure to welcome each of you, New Members and Returning Members, to National Association of University Women Southwest Section 2017 – 2018 membership year.
As Sectional Lay Member, my duties include Chairing the ByLaws, Scholarship, and Founders’ Day Committees. The ByLaws Committee has been especially busy this year, reviewing the entire ByLaws to correct and amend as needed, so that the SW Sectional ByLaws are clear and the language and articles match those of National’s ByLaws.
