Graduation RequirementsClass of 2015Course Credit

sYears Requirements

English 8 4 Two semesters in each of the 9 – 12 grades.

Mathematics 6 3 Six semesters, Algebra I and above

Science 6 3 Six semesters any grade (2 semesters biological science and 2 semesters physical science) 4 semesters must be lab science.

Social Science 6 3 Six semesters any grade (1 semester World History and 2 semesters US History)

Health/PE 4 2 One semester Wellness I, one semester Wellness II, one semester Healthful Living, and one semester P.E. selected from P.E. course offerings.

Technology/Fine Arts/World Language

6 3 Six semesters any grade of World Language, Professional Technical, Art, Drama, Music, or Applied Arts. (Any one area or in combination)

Electives 12 Twelve semesters, any content area.

Total Credits 48 6 classes all 8 semesters

Graduation Requirements, cont. Class of 2015• Demonstrate proficiency in Essential Skills:

• Read and comprehend a variety of text• Write clearly and accurately• Apply mathematics in a variety of settings

• Students will have multiple options and opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency in the Essential Skills by:• Achieving a state determined score on the state

assessment tests (OAKS) in reading, writing and mathematics

• Achieving a state determined score on another standardized test (SAT, ACT, etc.)

• Completing an approved locally scored assessment such as a work sample or student project

• Students will begin state testing in the 10th or 11th grade

• Students must complete the forecasting process by Friday, April 15

Online Forecasting, cont.• Each time a change is made, an email will

be sent to the student’s email, the parent’s email and to the school for counselors to review

• In late August, students will access a copy of their schedule online and there will be a designated day to make changes with their high school counselor, if necessary

• School photos will be taken on the 9th grade scheduling day, prior to the start of school

Summer School

• WHS will host Summer School • Summer School begins on Monday, June

27th and ends on Tuesday, July 26th• Freshmen can register for Wellness I• Please visit the WHS website at
