Dear Friends,

Words can't describe how much love I felt coming in my direction during my last days at Sacred Heart. I just loved the reception, and your many, many gifts, cards and kind words are deeply appreci-ated. What a blessing for me these 12 years have been.

I had a good cry after my final Mass that Sunday; then I drove over to pick up Msgr. Stieger (retired priest and very dear friend) for a few days together before driving down here to southern California to be with my mother and sisters.

The sorrow of leaving is tempered by knowing the parish is full of wonderful ministers doing God's work, with excellent priests to pro-vide guidance and leadership. Seeing the Cislini debt shrink so dra-matically this last month is a help too.

I wish everyone at Sacred Heart the very best in your new season, I hope you wish me the same ... and I'll never stop thanking God for our precious years together.

Estimados amigos: Las palabras no pueden describir cuanto amor siento viniendo a mi du-rante mi ultimo dia en el Sagrado Corazon. Me encanto la recepcion, y los muchos regalos, las tarjetas y las amables palabras de profundo apre-cio. Que bendicion para mi han sido estos 12 anos. Llore a gusto luego de mi ultima misa ese domingo, luego maneje para recoger a Monsenor Stieger (un sacerdote retirado y buen amigo) para pasar unos dias juntos antes de dirigirme al sur de California para estar con mi madre y mis hermanas. El pesar de la partida se mitiga al saber que la parroquia esta llena de ministros maravillosos haciendo la obra de Dios, y de excelentes sacer-dotes para proveer guia y liderazgo. Y el ver que la deuda del Cislini se redujo tan dramaticamente este ultimo mes tambien ayuda. Le deseo a cada uno en el Sagrado Corazon lo mejor en esta nueva etapa y espero que ustedes me deseen lo mismo a mi... No parare jamas de agradecer a Dios por nuestros preciosos anos juntos. Paz y todo bien!

THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN CEMETERY Holds a Mass in memory of the faithful departed on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM. Priests of Sacred Heart and Madonna del Sasso take turns to celebrate this Mass. Sacred Heart’s turn will be on August 6. For more info, please call 449-5890.

EL CEMENTERIO REINA DEL CIELO (QUEEN OF HEAVEN) - Se celebra una Misa en memoria de los fieles difuntos el primer sábado de cada mes a las 10:00 AM. RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adult (RCIA) is scheduled to be-gin its new classes on Wednesday, September 7th. Non-Catholics, visi-tors or those who do not currently have a church home, but are looking for the faith experience found in the Catholic Church are encouraged to participate. Interested adults (18 and older) who wish to complete their Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion are invited to participate. CAR WASH!!! - The Sacred Heart Youth Group Car Wash will be this Sun-day, July 10th, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart School grounds. Thank you for your support!

THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY - Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court John Paul II #2563 is going on a bus trip to Our Lady of Peace Shrine, 2800 Mission College Blvd., Santa Clara, CA on Monday, August 15, 2011 for The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Rosary at Shrine 11 AM, Mass 12 Noon, Lunch 1:15 PM at China Stix Restau-rant, 2110 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA. Cost is $35.00 per person. Non-members are welcome. Departure time 9 AM, Sacred Heart Church parking lot. Arrive at Our Lady of Peace 10:30 AM. Return to Salinas 4:30 PM. CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Our office pantry is completely out of food! We are requesting parishioners to bring donations of non-perishable food - tuna, soups, mac & cheese, peanut butter, etc. For further information, please call the parish office 424-1959.

SACRED HEART RUMMAGE SALE - Saturday, July 23 and Sun-day, July 24, 2011, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., in the Parish Hall. Now is the time to clean out your closets, cupboards, etc. You may bring donated items to the Parish Hall on Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. We also need volunteers to help set-up on Thursday and Friday, and on Sunday to help clean-up. Please call the Parish Of-fice at 424-1959 for more information. Proceeds benefit our Parish Charities Fund.

PARROQUIA DEL SAGRADO CORAZON VENTA DE SEGUN-DA - Sabado 23 de Julio y Domingo 24 de Julio del 2011, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., en el Salon Parroquial. Hagan una limpieza a sus armarios y garajes, busquen todo lo que ya no necesiten y este en buenas condi-ciones para vender. In May, Sacred Heart School’s 4th Grade Class led the school in a May Crowning Mass. The procession began in the church garden and continued in the church. The 2nd Graders who received

First Holy Communion wore their Communion outfits to the Mass, which was a tradition brought back from years ago.
