Drills - training
Well control muster point
On Monday 16th BOP drill was successful and reaction of the key rig personnel was found satisfactory. BOP close time 59 sec. Most of non essential personnel present on the site gathered at muster point – HSE informed about exceptions.Only one of personnel forgot to turn his T-card, but was at muster point.
Thanks to proactive rig floor crew.

HSE TOPICS FOR THE WEEK
1/ Team work : it’s progressing but can do better
2/Communication : Importance of reporting. New comer on site, changing of shift with daily handover (night and day)
3/ Housekeeping : Concern each one of us, after job to clean work area, housekeeping is a daily job. Good HKP reduce the risk of fall by trip hazards and slippery.
4/ PTW : Need a time for preparation. Plan your job and request the PTW in advance. It’s save time for everyone.
5/ Fire extinguishers : New extinguishers located within the minicamp, in order to recover the risks everywhere.
6/ Safety devices : 3 EWS+ 1 shower on mixing area, dog house and mud tanks.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Purpose and Scope
Employees will have to wear protective gear to reduce injury risk.
Appropriate PPE shall be determined prior to the commencement of the work.
The following minimum PPE requirements shall be observed by all personnel at all times:
- Head Protection
- Eye Protection
- Hearing Protection Ear muffs and plugs
- Hand protection Gloves
- Skin Protection Long sleeved coveralls, flame
retardant fabrics
- Foot Protection
Protective glasses, dark glasses shall not be worn after sunset
Hard hats with chin strap
Safety toed shoes or boots

Additional PPE Requirements
Additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required by the task being performed or the environment of the work area :
- Chemical handling, welding/cutting Operations, work at height above 2 meters, confined space entry protection…
Some examples of specific PPE :
Full body safety harness
Face protection or suitable glasses
Toxicity detector
Self-contained breathing apparatus
Filter mask
Rubber gloves
Sun cream

Training & reporting
To be sure that Personal Protective Equipment fulfils its purpose, you should:
Know the right PPE for your operations and how it should be worn
Make sure you are trained in how to use it
Report any difficulty you encounter in using it
Report any PPE item that is missing or damaged
Respect the rules requiring the wearing of PPE
