A message from Mrs Spencer Lovesey: We all enjoyed the Read Achieve Succeed day on

Tuesday, where every child was able to choose a brand new book from an incredible selection of

authors. In assembly we talked about the importance of reading and how reading helps us to

embed our school values of confidence, kindness, respect and motivation and launched the ’Read

to your pets/in unusual places’ competition. Please see the last page on the newsletter for the

winners! Mr Bhogal held the football trials this week to help him and Mrs Watts to select the AJA

football team, and Miss Hardy and I enjoyed looking at the Head Boy and Head Girl applications

that came to us earlier in the week. The successful applicants are now onto the next stage of the

process and will be promoting their campaign over the next 2 weeks.

Another busy, productive week of learning

and encouraging our pupils to ‘Believe,

Achieve and Succeed’.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

‘Curriculum Corner’ - A note from Mrs Patmore—Reading Lead This Tuesday the children enjoyed the launch of our Read Achieve Succeed event day. A key aspect of the Trust's

commitment is that every year, every child will have a book funded by the Trust to build up their 'bookshelf'. This

is part of our values, but also an evidence based way of encouraging reading for pleasure - we want to inspire all

our children to develop a lifelong love for reading.

The day started with a special assembly, followed by the children choosing a book from the Madeleine Lindley

book shelves. It was wonderful to see the children enthralled in their new books; there was a real buzz around

reading across the school! Well done to all the children who sent in a photo of themselves reading in an unusual

place or with a pet. We look forward to hearing about how much you are enjoying your new books!

HTML—’Harnessing Technology, Maximizing Learning’ - a note from Mrs Frost

In Year 3, we have finally completed the ipad induction lessons and the children have been able to bring their ipads home. We have learned how to use our ipads; how to keep them safe; and how to keep ourselves safe online. We can't wait to use our ipads in the classroom to enhance our learning. Please make the most of this fantastic resource and ask your child to log on to Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars and show you how they work. A couple of reminders of the rules: *Charge the ipad at home ready for school the next day (only adults to plug in please!) *Do not have food or drink around your ipad *Be a SMART user *Only use the apps you are told to by your teacher
