Enjoy the Christmas break and may you all find joy in spending time with friends and family over the holiday period. Students will return to school on Wednesday January 30. The P&C will open the Uniform Shop on Tuesday January 29.

BEWARE CHANGED BUS ZONE IN SYDNEY AVENUE Our local Council have made some changes to the bus zone in Sydney Avenue. The bus zone has been relocated closer to Hobart Avenue and the Kiss and Drop Zone is now located in front of the Administration building. Whilst the changes are welcomed there was no consultation with the school as to when the signage would be changed. Council have since apologised for the lack of communication in relation to these changes. Please take care in Sydney Avenue as we adjust to these recent changes.

2019 SCHOOL YEAR When the children return to school they will be with their teacher from 2018 until new classes are formed. We like to do this as soon as possible. It all depends on how many children are here for the first day of school (January 30).

BAND NEWS Congratulations to the Umina Beach Public School Training and Concert bands on a successful year. This year they performed at the 'Big Day Out' at Lisarow, 'Band Fest' at Mingara where they received a silver and bronze award for their efforts, they performed alongside Maitland Public School Concert Band and were invited to perform with Brisbane Water Secondary College at their end of year concert. Our Training and Concert band then finished off the year with wonderful performances at our presentation days last week. We are very proud of their achievements and talents. Thank you to our families for supporting our students.

A friendly reminder all instruments are due back this week for cleaning and servicing. This is a free service and your instruments will be ready to be picked up next year. If they are not returned the cleaning fee will be charged to your account. Band will recommence on Monday week 2 next year. If your child isn't returning and would like to donate their music book back to the school please send it to Mrs Young this week.

STUDENT BANKING Unfortunately, the Dollarmite token prizes won’t be in until 2019. They will be distributed to the students as soon as they come in. Banking resumes on Tuesday 19 February 2019. We would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

CANTEEN NEWS

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers this year – your assistance is greatly appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all next year. Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!

Your P&C have had another successful year. A massive thank you to all the children, families and community members that have supported our fundraising events. Without your support we could not achieve such wonderful things for the school and your children. We would like to thank the office staff, school canteen, teachers and everyone who has volunteered this year for their ongoing support and help. We have been able to purchase sports and special group uniforms (comedy club, choir, etc) library and school donations and subsidise the sports in schools program. Our next big project will be a new playground that we will be going halves in with the school. This playground will cost $60,000. Unfortunately, we have not had a lot of volunteers this year or many parents to our monthly meetings. We would love you to consider volunteering at P&C run events in 2019 and coming to our meetings to help us decide where and what to spend the hard earnt P&C funds on.

UNIFORM SHOP NEWS The Uniform shop has now closed for the year. It will be open Tuesday 29 January from 9:00am to 12:00pm for any last minute school uniform needs. We are then open from the first day back at school - Wednesday 30 January 9:00am to 10:30am Thursday 31 January 8:45am to 9:30am and 2:45pm to 3:30pm, Friday 1 February 9:00am to 10:30am. As of week 2 we will resume normal opening times of Thursday 8:45am to 9:30am and 2:45pm to 3:30pm I would like to thank the volunteers that run the Uniform Shop every week, your dedication is greatly appreciated.
