Revision More important than grades is that revising your

papers teaches you to be a better writer. Studies have shown again and again that the best

way to learn to write is to rewrite. In the revision process, you improve your reading

skills and your analytical skills. You may even discover patterns of error or habits

of organization that are undermining your papers.

Read DePalma’s “Fifteen Years on the Bottom Rung”. Remember to use our reading strategies to increase comprehension (glossing, annotations, double-entry notes).

Question Guide: Look at the questions on the back of the reading. Instead of treating each question like a checklist, choose one or two questions to guide your response. Write a few paragraphs in order to increase deep thinking. We will use your response in class and I will collect it.
