Statewide News ...
Hello Lincoln Land, I'm emailing my articles before I go to Dockers to see how crazy they've gotten dressed up for the costume contest this year. If you're reading this article it's because Charissa is in charge of the newspaper now. Thank you Charissa. I want to thank all the Lincoln Land members that rode in the Staub memorial ride, and the Contact Ministries toy ride.
At the October meeting we had first round of nomination for chapter officers. We will have nominations again at the November meeting. If you can help the chapter as an
officer or an assistant come to the November meeting and get your name on the ballot. From the latest BOD meeting. I think the state coordinator is getting tired of hearing about the insurance company calling people. He started the board meeting off with talking about that for quite a while. Remember the state newsletter will be combined November and December. You'll get a paper in January and February then March and April will be combined. Combining two months saves around $3,500. Beware riding through the city of Harvard in a cut-off you could be arrested, they have a city ordinance against it. The state is looking into it. Ryan thought a nice group ride with the governor with us would be interesting. ABATE of Illinois is looking for a webmaster to provide website maintenance service. This is a contracted paying job. If you're interested get ahold of me and I'll get you the information. The 2018 legislative agenda has 7 items that we all can agree on fighting for. Four members of Lincoln Land have been nominated for executive offices. Howard has been nominated for bike raffle. Mark Werries for activities coordinator. Josh was nominated for legislative coordinator. Paul was nominated as treasurer. We'll see what happens. Josh will be needing help with campaigning for the primaries. If you can spare any time to help, please let Josh know. Remember to keep those membership applications with you, you never know when you'll meet a new member. Promote ABATE George

Insane Clown Biker Gang?
Clowns. Love them or hate them they’re hot right now thanks to the release of IT and that demonic clown Pennywise scaring up movie goers. However, I have something a little more frightening and a little more real for you. How would you feel if you lost your job, or were detained by law enforcement simply because of the clothes you wore, or your tattoos, or your choice in music? Sounds crazy, right? Wrong. This is the reality for fans of the band Insane Clown Posse, or Juggalos as they call themselves. Juggalos & Juggalettes all around the country came together on September 16
th to
protest their designation as a “gang” by the FBI. The FBI declared them a loosely affiliated gang 6 years ago. As a result, fans have lost jobs due to gang membership, had probations revoked, and even suffered longer detainments and questioning at the hands of
law enforcement. All simply because a government group decided that music fans were a “gang”. Now, extend this treatment to us Bikers. How many times have you heard a club referred to as an “Outlaw Motorcycle Gang”? Well, what makes them a gang? Have some of their members engaged in criminal activity? Maybe, but if that’s the standard for a gang, what do we call Congress these days? That scary designation of being a “gang” is what leads to profiling of motorcyclists all around the US. Police department pulling over anyone with a vest, photographing them, detaining them for long periods looking for anything that could be twisted into being considered “support” for a ”gang”. This is happening right now, here in Illinois. ABATE is working to end profiling of motorcyclists based on TV show fantasy. That profiling extends from Law Enforcement to the local businesses banning vests. There is a Federal resolution pending regarding Biker Profiling, and locally we are working to educate businesses while putting local Law Enforcement on notice as well. This kind of behavior is unacceptable to ABATE. If you see any kind or profiling, please let me know as soon as possible. - SKI

Accidents & Riding Skills ….
I did a couple of classes at Riverton recently. 55 new drivers that hopefully are aware of a motorcycles on the road. At the end of the classes their main questions or about ABATEs thoughts on helmets, and if I popped a lot of wheelies on my bike. George Tinkham sent me a motorcycle article recently that is kind of scary for our organization of older motorcyclists. In 2016 1/2 of the motorcycle fatalities were writers 45 - 65 years of age.
On another issue, 25% of motorcyclist who died in accidents had a blood
alcohol .08 or higher. At the BOD meeting they said motorcycle fatalities in the state are up 20% this year. Remember they don't look for you in the warm weather, they won't be when it's cold. Keep your eyes watching for them.

Keeping us strong...
Fellow Brothers and Sisters; We stand proud as LINCOLN LAND STRONG at 148 new members so far this year, WooHoo….. Great job guys. If you have signed someone up this year, I thank you very much. If you have not signed someone up, please take the effort to recruit someone to continue to protect your motorcycling rights as well as theirs. As everyone has said for years now. If everyone signed someone up, we would double our membership. Please help your chapter and the state accomplish that goal. We are the biggest chapter in the state. We stand at 706 current members. We are currently 10% of Illinois total membership. Let’s make it 20%. Be proud to be LINCOLN LAND STRONG!!! *****************************************************************************************************
***** VERY IMPORTANT *****
* I really need someone to take over my position. I accepted the nomination for 2018 with the full understanding I may not be able to fulfill my obligations for the entire year due to family health issues. I would really like the opportunity to step down and allow someone else to run for Membership Coordinator while I could dedicate full attention to my ailing Father and Mother. * 2018 will definitely be my last year doing Membership at Lincoln Land ABATE * If you would be interested in running for Membership Coordinator for 2018, please step up to the plate and I will gladly assist in training you for the position and will relinquish my bid for 2018 if you are willing to take the position. I will walk you through this. It’s not that hard! * My immediate family is needing my full attention. * Please come to the November Meeting and submit your bid for 2018 Membership Coord. We have 10 officers positions up for nominations. We have 700 members……. Please do your part and step up as an officer to help run your Chapter.
*********************************************************************************************************** Remember to tell everyone ALL RIDERS AND BIKES ARE WELCOME.
COME TRY US OUT FOR SIZE. ******* ONE SIZE DOES FIT ALL HERE*******
Please keep the Social Hour going and keep it interesting. REMEMBER, IF WE GET A NEW MEMBER OR GUEST, MAKE SURE WE ALL GO OUT OF OUR WAY
