However, the fact is thatwhen any employee, even ifthis employee is a union repre-sentative, acts in such a man-ner that the legitimate interestsof his employer are jeopard-ized, AAA can not overlookthe matter without giving theemployee a disciplinary meas-ure for his behavior and ac-tions, even if the employee is aunion-representative.

Like any other AAA em-ployee, all employees thathold union positions are ex-pected to act as a good em-ployee and in the interests ofAAA.

AAA has always had thehighest regard for union – re-lations and union representa-tives and has in fact recentlyclosed a new collective wor -king agreement that is benefi-cial for both parties and allowsfor time off with pay for unionrepresentatives. AAA respectsunion-rights, the applicablelaws and treaties and has con-firmed this position again inthe current collective workingagreement.

ORANJESTAD – Aruba Air-port Authority N.V. (AAA)has taken notice of severalpublications and radio broad-casts about disciplinary mea -sure taken against of one of itsemployees.

As a general rule, AAAdoes not react in the press re-garding individual emplo -yees, nor their disciplinarystatus. However, since in thiscase, the matter has becomepublic and certain unfoundedaccusations are being made,AAA has decided to respond.By means of this release AAAwants to relay that the disci-

They also discussed the pre-vention of diseases among theanimals, which is controlled inVenezuela through an aware-ness program and funds forprevention. This information isvery crucial for Santa Rosa. Here the Minister has instituteda commission to explore thepossibility for chang ing the lawon the import of livestock fromColombia, Ve ne zuela andBrazil with the objective of re-ducing the high cost of import-ing from the USA. This wouldenable us to increase the num-ber of animals for the localconsumption of fresh meat.

Mr. Fuenmayor was im-pressed to see how Aruba’s pri-mary sector has developed insuch a short period of time.

Fuenmayor had words ofpraise for the work of the newdirector and her staff and forthe excellent performance ofthe Santa Rosa department.

Just recently Santa Rosa re-ceived a special visit fromRaimundo Fuenmayor, VicePresident of the Equipo Zu-liano Para Cria, in Venezuela.Coincidentally, Fuenmayor is arepeat guest and Timeshareholder on Aruba.

After following the pro -gress of Santa Rosa on Facebook and through the media,Fuenmayor decided to paySanta Rosa a personal visit tosee for himself how SantaRosa operates. He spent timeconversing with newly ap-pointed Director of SantaRosa, Nathalie Maduro.Maduro introduced Fuen-mayor to the recent develop-ments at Santa Rosa and heshared what is happening inVenezuela regarding their live-stock and agriculture program. They also explored the possi-bility for the interchange ofideas and experiences.

One important matterwhich was discussed is the re-cycling system and low ex-pense sustainable projects forconsumers that are practiced inVenezuela which could be ap-plied and adapted in Aruba.Example of this is the use ofrecycled wooden pallets to fab-ricate steel or fences for live-stock. They also discussed theimportance of producing or-ganic products for local con-sumption and the quality ofproducts that can be produced

WASHINGTON (AFP) - TheUnited States would haveabout a year to take action ifIran decided to build nuclearweapons and the Americanmilitary is well-prepared if themoment comes, Defense Sec-retary Leon Panetta said in atelevision interview yesterday.

The Pentagon chief told"CBS This Morning" that itwould take Iran some time toconstruct a nuclear device oncethe Tehran leadership chose togo ahead.

Asked how much time itwould take, Panetta replied:"It's roughly about a year rightnow. A little more than a year.

"And so, we think we willhave the opportunity once weknow that they've made thatdecision, to take the action nec-essary to stop the program."

Panetta's comments comeamid tension with Iran over itsnuclear program as well asgrowing friction between theUnited States and Israel overthe urgency of the threat posedby Tehran's uranium enrich-ment work.

Israeli leaders have por-trayed Iran as on the verge ofsecuring nuclear weapons andwarned US officials that a"zone of immunity" could soonemerge in which it would betoo late to stage bombing raidsto derail Tehran's program.

President Barack Obama'sadministration has taken amore cautious approach, sug-gesting there is still time toallow sanctions to take effectand for more potential sabo-tage of Iran's nuclear sites, ac-cording to analysts and formerofficials.

Panetta said US spy agen-cies are able to track Iran's nu-clear project and assess howclose the Islamic republic maybe towards achieving the capa-bility to build an atomic bomb.

"We have pretty good intel-ligence on them. We knowgenerally what they're up to.And so we keep a close trackon them," he said.

The candidate vaccine,CYD-TPV, was given to 2,669children in three doses, while1,333 were given a harmlesslookalike called a placebo toact as a comparison.

The trial was a so-calledPhase IIb, meaning a stepped-up test in the long three-phaseprocess by which new drugsare tested for safety and effec-tiveness.

In the vaccine group, 76children, or 2.8 percent, fell di-agnosed with dengue, com-pared with 58 cases, or 4.4percent, among the controlgroup.

But among the inoculatedchildren, protection againstDENV 1, 3, 4 was 55.6 per-cent, 75.3 percent and 100 per-cent -- but against DENV 2, itwas just 9.2 percent. Overall,the protection was just 30.2percent.

French pharmaceuticalgiant Sanofi Pasteur said thatdespite this disappointment, the story was not yet over.

Half a million people eachyear develop severe dengue, afeverish condition requiringhospitalisation.

But the search for the vac-cine has been complicated bythe fact that there are four dif-ferent strains -- known asDENV 1, 2, 3 and 4 -- all ofwhich may circulate in an out-break zone.

Adding to the problem isthat dengue seems to be exclu-sive to humans, which meansit is impossible to test vaccineson lab animals first.

MINSK (AFP) - Disgraced

Belarus shot putter

Nadezhda Ostapchuk was on

Tuesday handed a one-year

ban after testing positive for

a banned anabolic steroid

that cost her Olympic gold.

The sentence was lenient

because Ostapchuk was

completetly in the dark that

she had doped, according to

Alexander Vanhadlo, the

head of Belarus' anti-doping

agency.

Vanhadlo said that

Ostapchuk's coach, Alexan-

der Yefimov, was the only

person responsible for the

violation of the doping code

and was banned for four

years.

"Yefimov confessed that

he added the banned drug

metenolone into Ostapchuk's

food because he was worried

by her unimpressive results

ahead of the Olympics,"

Vanhadlo told the press.

"Yefimov said that he did

it at the training base in Be-

larus just days before the

start of the Games without

Ostapchuk's knowledge."

Ostapchuk became the

first medallist disqualified

from the London Games for

doping and was stripped of

her women's Olympic shot

put title.

The International

Olympic Committee (IOC)

awarded gold to New

Zealand's Valerie Adams

after Ostapchuk provided

two urine samples which

were both found to contain

metenolone.

Russia's Yevgeniya

Kolodko was upgraded to

silver medal position, with

Lijiao Gong of China taking

bronze.

Ostapchuk had been com-

peting in her third Olympics

in London. She finished

fourth in Athens in 2004 and

won bronze in Beijing four

years ago.
