It is time for our annual holiday party. We need to know if you and your family are coming. Please reply to thisemail by Thursday, January 7, so we can get a good estimate of how many people are coming. Andre is buyingthe meat. Weare really looking forward to seeing everyone. Vehicle Painting Checklist

Assess body of car. Make sure that body panels fit correctly before work begins.Wash vehicleRemove bumpers etc.Metal begins to rust as soon as paint has been taken off. Put Ospho (phosphoric acid) from Ace Hardware withclean cloth onto car parts after cleaning paint off metal.Clean car parts with wax and oil remover and clean cloth.Spray epoxy primer on body tub, fenders hood and trunk.Spray on Primer Surfacer. Apply surfacer within 72 hours of painting epoxy primer.After applying primer surfacer, hand block s.andwith 400 grit then 600 grit sand paperSpray on base coat (2 or 3 coats). Primer must not show through base coat. Remove nibs & debris with 1200 gritsandpaper.

10. Spray on c1earcoat(2 coats). Base coat and especially clearcoat are very dangerous to breathe into your lungs.Use proper air breathing equipment with clean filters.

11. Your skin can also absorb paint and clearcoat toxins. Wear protective clothing.

If you are taking the body off of the frame use Blues Sandblasting near the Tallahassee airport. They can sandblast theframe and body tub for a very reasonable amount of money. Blues will spray on a black primer after sandblasting (ask).They will also spray the frame with a tough black semi-gloss black paint if you wish. If you supply the epoxy primer theycan paint the body and frame with that.

Sandblasting can ripple trunk, hood and fenders. If you wish to clean off the paint on fenders, trunk and hood yourself usea right angle grinder (Hitachi) with a wire brush or use a large disk sander (30$) from Harbor Freight. A small pressurizedsandblast setupis alsoavailablethere. Blueshasfine sandblastingsand.Sandblastingsandis $4.00per fiftypoundbag.Use a dremel with small wire brushes to get into tight areas. You may need aircraft paint remover (available at Carquestand possibly Pep Boys) to use with the dremel.

Sandblasting is bad for your lungs. You must use proper equipment to protect your body, face and lungs.
