Websites can be created with or without the use of frames.

If you choose to use frames: Frames pages are used to

divide the browser window into different areas. Each area is a different webpage. The banner frame can be used to

display the name of the website and a logo.

The contents frame will have a menu.

Clicking on a menu option will display a page in the main frame.

Action Buttons A button is an image that represents

an action. When you click on it with the mouse, some action happens.

When 'pushed’ or ‘clicked’, in addition to performing a predetermined task, buttons often undergo a graphical change to look as if they are being temporarily depressed or pushed in.

On websites, the action may be to link you to another page or to submit a form, etc.

Text Hyperlinks Any section of text can be

used as a hyperlink to another webpage.

Often hyperlinks are underlined so the user can recognise them.

Hyperlinks may also be recognisable by formatting them a different colour to the body text.

Visited links may be formatted a different colour to the original.

used as links. You can use any

image as a link, but remember that all images must be downloaded into the browser for the webpage to display properly.

This can take a long time over a slow connection and may deter some visitors.
