Computers Course #7700/#8700A semester computer class that involves the use of many different software programs. The students will begin by reviewing the keyboard then move into Microsoft office software programs.
FACS (Family and Consumer Science) Course #7710/#8710
A semester comprehensive course covering money management, human relations, child development, nutrition and food preparation, and clothing care.
STEM Course #7720/#8720A semester long computer based Synergistic Lab that is designed to enhance over 90% of our Kansas state middle school standards in the areas of Science, Mathematics, and Technology. Students work in pairs to learn hands on, real life applications while challenging their old ways of thinking. Some modules that will challenge students in this course include Lights and Lasers, Statistical Analysis, Geology, Research and Design, and Natural Disasters.

FRENCH COURSE #7730/#8730
A semester comprehensive course covering culture in French-speaking countries as well as grammar and vocabulary of the classroom, greetings, weather & calendar, colors, family, pastime activities, food, animals, and body parts.

A semester comprehensive course covering culture in Spanish-speaking countries as well as grammar and vocabulary of the classroom, greetings, weather & calendar, colors, family, pastime activities, food, animals, and body parts.
Vocal Music Course #7750/#8750
7th/8th Grade vocal music is a semester long course where students learn to read and perform choral music. Students will sing music of various time periods and students in two evening concerts. The course may be taken both semesters at the request of the student/parent and with the instructor’s consent.

Art Course #7760/#8760
A semester long course of FUNDAMENTALS OF ART. This course introduces students to the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. Students use two and three dimensional art to communicate. They learn skills and techniques in a variety of media to include painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics.
Careers Course #7790/#8790
A semester course covering personal profiles, public speaking, learning to be a team player, getting along in the work world, filling out job applications, interviewing for a job, personal inventories and skills assessments that connect with real jobs through Kansas Career Pipeline website, self-reflections, income/taxes/expenses/interests, and Real Game.
Multimedia Course #7705/#8705
The Multimedia classroom is a project based computer class that will require students to think creatively and use their problem solving skills. In Multimedia we will learn about Basic Computer Skills, Digital Citizenship, Internet Safety, Copyright & Creative Commons, Social Networking, Cameras, Elements of Photography, Photo Editing, Graphic Design, Web 2.0

Strength and Conditioning Course #7780/#8780
A semester long course with major emphasis on proper strength and conditioning techniques to develop strength, power, quickness, speed, flexibility, and endurance. Resistance work in the weight room, agility drills, and speed enhancement drills will be used.
Physical Education Course #7600/#8600 Boys; #7650/#8650 Girls
A semester long course designed to develop the knowledge and skills for a health enhancing level of fitness and to maintain the regular habits of physical activity. Students will learn how to compete and cooperate together to achieve goals through physical activity and recreational skills. (One semester per year is required.)
JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) Course #7775/#8775
This course helps prepare students for the transition from school to college/career by focusing on character development, compunction skills, finances and working with others.

Robotics Course #8725
Using the Robo Engineering Volume 1 curriculum, my classroom, builds, designs, and programs the Lego NXTs. We implement problem solving, cooperative learning, communication skills and of course math and engineering concepts. At the end of the semester, we use what we have learned to implement a Sumobot Challenge. The students program the robot to push a competitor off of the ring but they key is that they are to start facing opposite directions. Students use their knowledge of programming to complete this “open ended design” task. This course is for 8th grader only.
PAWS (Positive Attitudes while in School) Course #1800
PAWS is a program designed to support students towards a more positive outlook so they can be successful in their education. Students learn to be caring, civil, problem solving citizens, as well as respectful, responsible, empathetic and ethical individuals. Principal assigns students to class.

AVID is a year-long course designed to prepare students for admission to a four-year university after graduation from high school. AVID helps students learn how to keep their schoolwork organized and how to take good notes. Must meet pre-requisites to take course.

Math Strategies Course #7228/8228
A year-long course designed to improve number sense and computational skills through a conceptual framework. In addition, this course focuses on low grade level indicators from previous years as well as the current grade level. This course is based off of teacher recommendation based on skill level, and assessment scores.
Reading Strategies Course #7772/#8772
A year-long comprehensive course that covers six important areas of language arts: phonemic awareness and phonics; word recognition and spelling; vocabulary and morphology; grammar and usage; listening and reading comprehension; and speaking and writing. This course is based off of teacher recommendation based on skill level, and assessment scores.

A year-long developmental literacy course covering reading, writing, and comprehension using the READ 180 curriculum. This course is based off of teacher recommendation based on skill level, and assessment scores.
VLR On-Line Courses Course numbers vary
Students will take an extra course through an on-line program to help enhance their skills in an area that they were previously unsuccessful. This course is completed in a small setting with individualize support to increase their skills. Principal assigns students to class.
