TATES CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IB Committee September 22nd, 2015 Members present: Brenda Jackson, Claire Batt, Katie Walker, Lisa Johnson, Jill Robertson, Katie Sisk, Megan Weiss, Megan Cambron, Amy Madon, Ashley Faulkner, Christen Antle, Becky Wells, Lea West, Carrie Paul, and Lindsay Ames I. Review Assessment Policy IB portfolio pieces need to be based on student choices. These writing pieces can either be a digital portfolio (pictures, power points, videos) or hand-written based on grade level. (K-2 written and 3-5 digital). Each IB unit needs a summative and formative assessment piece. The portfolio pieces need to have feedback to show progress. Student reflection, teacher feedback, and a student evaluation should be included in their portfolio. Purpose of the portfolio is for students to reflect upon their work to see how far they’ve come and to see their progress. Teachers can show student created portfolios at student-led conferences. IB portfolios should show how students have developed as an IB learner. II. Next Steps IB committee will talk with their grade level teams to get a plan in place for IB portfolio pieces and managing assessments. Deciding how to best pass on the students’ portfolios to the next grade level. III. Report Cards Connecting our conduct section with IB. Changes in the report card have to be approved by SBDM. Ames will write up omissions made to report card conduct section to be submitted to SBDM.
