With the pressures of day-to-day life home security is often overlooked, so National Home Security Month (NHSM) has been designed to create awareness around the importance of home security. Although National Home Security Month officially takes place in October, it’s important to make home security a key priority at all times.

Stickney Residents Association

DO YOU WANT YOUR VOICE TO BE HEARD IN STICKNEY?In view of a number of dramatic changes, that are set to be proposed for Stickney, it has been suggested that a Residents Association be formed to give the village force by numbers and a single voice - these properties would enhance our standing and bargaining power. If you want a say in your village life then please join.

It has been suggested that Jean Littlewood and Brian Wood act as caretakers of the organization until the inaugural meeting where a Chairperson and deputy would be voted in. Meetings would be only held when the need arose. The inaugural meeting will take place at the Village Hall, Hall Lane at 7.00pm on Thursday 16thOctober 2014 and will finish around 9.00pm.

For further information Jean can be contacted on 480548 or e-mail Brian at [email protected]

Halloween Fun!

Guess the ghost – You will need a blindfold!

You will need:

The person who is ‘it’ must then try and guess who it is. If they guess correctly then they swap round, if they do not guess correctly they go around the circle again!”

Sit the kids in a big circle. Put some music on and take it in turns for one child to be blindfolded and walk around the circle, touching the other children's heads. When the music stops, the child that the person walking has their hands on must let out a ghostly wail - the spookier the better!!

Swinging apples gameYou will need: Apples and String

Tie string around each apple stem and hang the apples from a doorway. The children can then take turns biting into the swinging fruit while keeping their hands behind their backs! Alternatively, hang ring doughnuts from the string instead of apples!

Planning Applications Received S/165/01555/14 - Western Power Distribution - Form B application – to erect a 33,000 kv overhead line (plan no K16403) at OH Power Line Off Halton Road, Spilsby - SUPPORTS/169/01621/14 - Mr D McLinden - Construction of a vehicular access at The Cottage, Main Road - SUPPORTS/169/01435/14 - Bernard Matthews Limited - Siting of 7 biomass heating packaged plant rooms each housing a boiler, buffer vessel and internal fuel store at Stickney Farm, Midville Lane – OBJECT Increase traffic along Horbling Lane to deliver ‘fuel’ and the increased smell from fumes generated from the plant rooms will affect local residents.

Planning Decisions

Page 11: parishes.lincolnshire.gov.ukparishes.lincolnshire.gov.uk/Files/Parish/128/Parish_Mag…  · Web viewS T I C K N E Y. N E W S. With the pressures of day-to-day life home security

S/169/01270/14 - Ms M McKenzie - Extension and alterations to existing bungalow to provide an attached single garage, bedroom with en suite and attached garden room at47 Holmes Road – OBJECT (Planning Committee) This is not in-keeping with the area and the look of this estate. It is too close to neighbouring boundaries causing possible problems with maintenance to both properties. The neighbours were not spoken prior to the application being submitted as suggested in the application form. Complaints have been received from neighbours regarding this extension. Could set a precedent for other properties on the estate to do likewise.

S/169/01442/14 - Mr & Mrs Bradshaw - Erection of 1 detached house on the site of existing mobile home and sheds on site which are to be removed to include the provision of parking at Charnwood, West Fen Lane – OBJECT (Planning Committee) Current occupation is in direct contravention of previous planning refusal. There has never been a permanent building at this site. The current sewage system is inadequate, there are often 'smells' in the area - there appears to be no soakaway. The proposed property would be much higher than the existing caravan. There is no planning permission for siting the existing caravan at this site. This would set a precedent for other such properties in Lincolnshire should this application be granted permission.S/169/00851/14 - T Paul - Outline erection of 9 dwellings (with means of access to be considered at field adjacent to Sunnyside Farm, Main Road -WITHDRAWNS/169/00986/14 - Mr D Issac - Installation of a 575kw ground mounted solar photovoltaic array (46 rows of 50 panels = 2300 panels) with maximum panel height of up to 2.0 metres at Land opposite Meadowfield House, West Fen Lane - WITHDRAWNS/169/01270/14 - Ms M McKenzie - Extension and alterations to existing bungalow to provide an attached single garage, bedroom with en suite and attached garden room at 47 Holmes Road - WITHDRAWN

Repairs Street light 57 Main Road is out. The cost of a licence to site the ‘Smiley Sid’ type signs will be £40.00. The signs would have to be moved to different sites and a regular basis. The sites have to be approved by the LRSP. It was resolved not to purchase any of these signs. The Unsuitable for Heavy Vehicles signs have been sited at West Fen Lane. The dog bin at the Main Road, opposite the junction with Horbling Lane, needs to be replaced. The bus stops requested will not be available for the remote stops in the village, hail and ride will continue in these areas. Designs are being drawn up for stops near the Post Office, at Horbling Lane and two south of the village, near the lorry park, will be improved with timetable poles and raised access kerbs.ANY POT HOLES OR STREET LIGHTS IN ALL DAY OR OUT AT NIGHT SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE PARISH COUNCIL CLERK.

Audit For The Year Ended 31 March 2014The audit has been returned with a note from the External Auditor pointing out the comments from the Internal Auditor. The budget control is now in place. The Notice of Conclusion of Audit, together with the required paperwork is now in the notice boards.

ELDC – Notice Of Review Of Polling DistrictsStickney Parish will now be in the same ward as Sibsey and will have two District Councillors following the election in May 2015CemeteryA large branch from a tree in the cemetery came down in the bad weather, this was cleared away and a second branch on the same tree, being unsafe, was removed. The trees in the cemetery and Churchyard have been looked at and a list or works made, these will be carried out as soon as possible for the safety of the visitors to the cemetery and the Church.

Best Kept Village CompetitionStickney got through to the second round, but unfortunately did not make the final round. There were no negative comments on the judges scoring sheets (these can be seen on the website or it the notice boards) to help to improve areas for next year!

War MemorialThe Parish Council are not at all convinced that the War Memorial has been cleaned; the old pots still have the soil in them and still stand on the stepped area of the memorial with no replacement vases in; the footway at the base has had nothing done to it; the wall has not been cleaned and the slope to hold poppy wreaths is not there. A meeting is to be arranged with the stone mason to discuss these issues.

Parish Website ([email protected]/stickney)It has been agreed that any business in Stickney can have their information and links to websites placed under a business’s section on the website – anyone wanting to be put on this site can contact the Clerk by phone or e-mail for further information, there will be no charges.

THE NEXT MEETINGS WILL BE HELD ON 02 OCTOBER 2014 IN THE YOUTH CENTRE AT 7.30PM. THERE WILL BE A PUBLIC FORUM FROM 7.15PM.
