I thought was very positive thank you for attending, we had a big crowd. First of all, it was determined that nothing will change until June 1, 2019. As you know my term as pastor ended when I became 75 years old last February. I have indicated to the Cardinal that I would be willing to serve as your pastor until June 1, 2019. Please God let my health hold out. I am doing this because I love St. Anthony’s and you all of you have been so good and patient with me. Let us serve one another, I have a wonderful staff and with their help we will continue to grow and strive. What will happen in June 1, 2019 when I leave? There are options one is that St. Anthony’s will become a major Shrine not much would change except, please God, more people will come to St. Anthony’s if we promote more devotions to St. Anthony and Padre Pio. All of you would still be members of St. Anthony’s Shrine, we will still have Baptism, funerals, and weddings. Most important is we must increase of support of our Shrine. Please remember at the present time there are still other options this is only one that is on the table. ST. FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKAt our meeting Tuesday January 9, to

discuss the future of our parish.

To end on an optimistic, note this June 3, 2018 we will be celebrating my 50th Ordination as a priest of God. Hopefully on that date we will celebrate this joyous event. The Temperature has risen to 50 degrees, the clouds are breaking just a touch of spring is in the air. Our parish has a great future ah yes, best of all there goes the bell and yes, I am back to my macaroni and meatballs!

Confirmation Year I and Year II

John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus’s walked by, he said,

"Behold, the Lamb of God."

Year I will have classes on Sunday January 14, 2018 at 1:15 PM until 2:15 PM in the Faith Formation Building

Year II will be having classes on Sunday January 14, 2018 at 6:00 Pm until 8:00 PM in the Faith Formation Building the lesson will be on Vocations.

Year I And Year II Candidates are required to attend Mass on the time of your convenience and please sign the attendance sheets in the back vestibule of the Church.

Why is Jesus Called the Lamb of God?

For this reason, the Agnus Dei is sung during the fraction, the breaking of the consecrated Host.  St. John Chrysostom (d. 407) preached of how the fraction symbolized the Passion of Christ:” What Christ did not suffer on the Cross, He suffers in the sacrifice for thee.”  The hymn itself invokes Christ and recalls His sacrificial death with overtones of a hymn of victory of the triumphal Lamb.  This belief is then emphasized again when the priest holds up the fractured Host and says, “This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, happy are those who are called to His supper.”  (Or, in a literal translation of the Latin, “Happy are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb,” better reflecting the imagery of Revelation.)

As we celebrate the mysteries of the Mass, we look to the Lamb who suffered, died, and rose for our salvation.  We must gather around the altar of the Lamb, offering to Him our own hearts and pledging to be His servants, so that we may welcome Him and become wedded to Him in the Holy Eucharist.

PRESENCE OF GOD

We all go to different shrines as pilgrims to get the blessings of God. We strongly believe when the blessing (Presence) of God is with us, we will be victorious and prosperous in all our endeavors. It is the custom of the people of Israel to bless another person saying, “Lord be with you” when he or she goes on a long journey, and involves in important activities. Even today, the priest greets or blesses the people of God saying, “Lord be with You” both in the beginning and end of the Eucharistic celebration. Above all, Scripture provides endless examples of how the presence of God empowers his children, Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Joshua, David and totally the people of Israel to live for Him.

Mother Mary always has a special veneration throughout the centuries in the life of the Catholic Church. The only reason is that God is always with her. The Angel Gabriel greets her, “Hail favored one! The Lord is with you.” (Lk.1:28). When Mary visited Elizabeth, the infant in the womb of Elizabeth leaped for joy. (Lk. 1:44). The reason for joy is that God is with Mary. In the book of Zephaniah, the prophet instructs the people of Israel to be joyful and fearless because the King of Israel, the Lord is in your midst. (Zep 3:14-15).

All the great personalities in the bible were joyful and fearless in spite of hardships and sufferings in and around them because they felt the presence of God with them. In the same way, Mary, despite so many problems and mysteries in her heart, was always joyful and fearless because God is with her. It is very clear that the presence of God always makes us joyful and fearless.

The people of Israel and a few great

BASIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY

We have started a new program, namely “Basic Christian Community” (BCC) in our Parish. Basic Christian Community is the life style of early Christians. Few families gather at a home and they pray and reflect over the Word of God. It will enrich our lives and provide a good opportunity to pray for others. It will 3
