Irregular Verbs in the Imperfect Tense
1. The verb ver is irregular in the imperfect only because the endings are added to the stem ve-:

3. Haber is a special verb because it has only ONE form, singular. You already know the present tense form, hay (“there is/are”). The imperfect form is había (“there was/were, there used to be”).

The indirect object answers the questions to or for whom? or to or for what? Another way to look at it is to say that the indirect object tells us where the direct object is going.
Example:
I give you the gift.
