Women Empowerment Program is a noble initiative by the State
Government which aims to empower women and give them same status in
society and to make them independent in all aspects from mind, thoughts,
rights and decision. With the same objectives, Government Polytechnic,
Jamnagar organized various activities under the Women Empowerment
Program.
“Mahila Surakha Divas”
Around 40 girls’ students and 10 Female Staff of the institute have
enthusiastically participated in Vijarkhi
Firing Camp, organized by District
Police Suraksha Shetu Society. This
Firing Camp was scheduled from
morning 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. All the
students were given 10 firing rounds.
The entire camp was a great learning
experience for students as well as
faculty members.

Visit to Institute:
As a part of Women Education Day, Around 60 girl’s students and 7 female
staff of the institute visited
well known institute of
Jamnagar, Indian Institute of
Ayurveda Pharmaceutical
Science (IIAPS). During the
visit, Mr Jignesh Kevaliya
and Ms Jignasha Pancholi,
faculty members at IIAPS
explained Ayurved Medicine,
and various plants and
laboratory process. The entire visit plan was organized by A N Joisar,
Lecturer in Chemistry whose efforts made this program successful.

Career Counselling Seminar
Career Counselling Seminar was organized on 7th July, 2015 to celebrate
Women Education Day in which more than 34 girls students from all
semesters interestingly and actively participated. This seminar was
conducted by Mr Shabir A
Parmar who was recently
appointed as a lecturer in
English by GPSC. This
seminar is an attempt to
provide guidance to the girls
students about different
accessible opportunities for
job after their studies. Apart
from their respective fields,
Mr Shabir A Parmar explained different areas where woman can
successfully build career. During the seminar, how to prepare for
competitive exams like GPSC and UPSC etc were also discussed. Moreover,
Mr Parmar also covered points like preparation for interview, business
etiquettes and personality development.

The seminar ended with the question answer session where students
raised their queries. All the girls students demanded to organize such type
of seminars and activities in the college.
Law Awareness Seminar for Women (“Mahila Kanoni Jagruti Divas”)
As a
part of Law awareness for Women, District Suraksha Shetu Society in
collaboration with District Police Office and District Law Service Society
organized seminar for women and children’s law in the Town Hall at
Jamnagar. In this law awareness seminar, 40 girls students with ladies staff
of the institute like Ms K D Mankad (Suraksha Setu officer in Charge), Dr U
M Joshi (Lecturer in Physics), Ms L B Parmar (Lecture in Civil), Ms N D
Thakar and Ms S D Damore of the institute participate. This seminar
enriched the knowledge of various types of laws regarding women’s safety,
rights etc.
Women Health and Fitness Day:

To celebrate Women Health and Fitness Day, Yoga Training Session was
planned for the Hostel Girls of the institute. The training session was
conducted by Umedsinh Sodha who very actively and practically explained
the importance of yoga in our life and various types of Aashans and
pranayam. To make this program successful Mr V S Tejvani (Lecturer in
Electrical) with Ms S D Damore, Ms L B Parmar and N D Thakar gave their
efforts.
Throughout the celebration of Women Empowerment Program, A K Zala
(Principal) Ms K D Mankad (Suraksha Setu Society Officer in charge) and
member Dr U M Joshi supported and help to organize all the activities.
